I'm looking hard for Lindsey Cemetery in Mayes County and cannot find it! It would be within a triangle formed by Pryor, Choteau, and Locust Grove. In the early 70s a book was published including it. Of course, the text could have been compiled years earlier. At the time, it was enclosed by a four foot high concrete wall, had about 65 burials, and was "well tended". The main family names are Lindsey, Hayden, and Bryan. This is not the Bryan Cemetery. The Bryan Cemetery, in the same area, does not appear to ever have had such a concrete wall. If the Lindsey Cemetery was moved when Lake Hudson was formed, the cemetery would have been moved. But where? I would appreciate any help. Thank you! Barbara Holman [email protected]

Dear List Members, Here it is the end June and time for the Second Quarterly Report for 2001. Can you believe how fast the time has passed? This one almost passed me by. The OK-CEMETERIES Mailing List has 379 members, 292 on the Regular list and there are 87 members on the Digest List. As most of you know by now, the GenConnect Boards have changed. Rootsweb.com and Ancestry.com are continuing their merger and now have merged the GenConnect Boards. I am not sure of my feeling regarding this yet, but will watch it and let you know. I am not one to jump to conclusions quickly. I also take care of many GenConnect Boards and did loose all of them in which I did not take care of the Query board due all the boards, bios, wills, pensions, etc. being combined within the Query board. If you used one of these boards, now you know why I suddenly disappeared. I know many of you have concerns regarding copyright laws and the information you post to the boards and the mailing lists. Monnie: Yes indeed, your people are buried in the Bethany, Cemetery.Lula must have been a daughter. On the first tombstone was Bazzle Davis, born Jan. 4, 1869 and died April 8, 1959. On the same tombstone was Alice, born Sept. 26, 1869 and died May 14, 1925. On the very bottom of this tombstone was...Lula V. 1880 -- 1962. Beside this tombstone was a smaller stone that read, Lula V. Stephens Davis, born Oct. 16, 1880 and died Feb. 21, 1962. In back of these two stones was another Davis that I thought might be related. The tombstone read, Davis, R.D. Aug. 14, 1896 to January 23, 1977, and Fannie, July 29, 1895 to January 23, 1977. Beside this tombstone was another one that read, Donald Alison Davis, May 3, 1920 to February 21, 1924. While I was there I took some pictures. Tim, may I take advantage of your generosity in looking for names in the Bethany Cemetery? I am searching for my great-grandmother's grave, who was buried in Bethany. Her name is MARY FRANCES VAN HORN or FRANCES M. VAN HORN The "Frances" may be spelled in the masculine way with an "i" rather than an "e". The date is iffy. Probably in the 1930s, though.
