    3. Hi folks, Hooray for new discoveries! Donna Wolf has found me a reference to the death of Elizabeth ELDER MERCER, reported on 16 APRIL 1857, in the publication titled "DEFIANCE, FULTON, HENRY, PAULDING, PUTNAM, WILLIAMS and WOOD COUNTIES OHIO, Newspaper Obituary Abstracts, 1838-1870. The abstract says "MERCER, Mrs.--Portage, burned, w/o John, d/o Coroner ELDER." (We also know now that her father JOHN ELDER was coroner in that time period, from BEERS history of Wood County). JOHN MERCER remarried and is buried in Bowling Green. I still haven't found burial location for ELIZABETH ELDER MERCER, or her parents, MARY MOREHOUSE ELDER (d. before 1860) or for JOHN ELDER ( d. abt 1863.) Family letters say that Elizabeth was "burned in a washday fire". Does anyone know if there are microfilm articles to be found by those dates of publication in Wood County? -- Nancy Elder Petersen, "First Families Member, Wood Co OH" 14514 NE 52nd Circle Vancouver, WA 98682 Phone: 360-882-1039 http://www.teleport.com/~nancyp/elder.htm
