Perrysburg Village: Men of 1839. - In 1839, an enumeration of all male citizens over twenty-one years of age, in the township was made by County Assessor Samuel Matthews. Among the list is found Josiah MILLER, p. 363. Miscellaneous: Banks. - The Perrysburg Savings & Loan Association was incoporated April 3,1869, with F. R. MILLER, as corporator. It was organized May 1, that year, with F. R. MILLER, treasurer. The Exchange Bank was organized in October,1871, with F. R. MILLER, Cashier. Modern Houses. After the destruction by fire of the old court house, the citiens of Perrysburg, on April 15, 1872, resolved to rebuild; among the signers of the resolutions was F. R. In 1823, when the WILSONS settled there, the lines of the works were distinct, and, in plowing, blacksmith's cinders were found within the enclosure. The fortification can have no connection with the building of Fort Meigs, for it is a work which Harrison's men did not dream of constructing; p. 365. end notes for WILSON. The establishment of Washington, was on June 5, 1837, Township Officals Trustees-John CROM 1837; Clerk, Board of Education 1845-46, 51-52 - Jacob CROM Pages 407,8. Pioneers, page 408, Adult males within the township in 1839 were Jonathan CROM, Abraham CROM, Josiah CROM, John CROM settled in 1831; Jacob CROM signed a petition in 1833 for roads to be built; when these pioneers went into the forest from the river, that part of the Fort Meigs and Wappakoneta road, from the Mission station into the prairie, on the east bank of the Tontogany, was not cut out or bridged. There was a false alarm in the Huckleberry war of 1837 and a party was garrisoned at John CROM's log house, north of Tontogany. Early Schools - dir! ector on the Board of Education was John CROM in 1854; p. 410. TONTOGANY VILLAGE was surveyed May 5, 1855 and incorporated Sept. 9, 1874.
