Hi Margaret - Our index of burials in Wood County do not show any Elizabeth Dye. I checked the obituary index of the Center for Archival Collections at the University also. There is no Elizabeth Dye listed in that index either. We have one possible check that can be made yet and will try that at a later date and get back to you if we find anything. Earl - thanks for the help. Most of my Pfeiffer line was from Medina/Lorain Counties. I'm not aware of any being in Wood Co, but one never knows. We only know that a sister of my great-great-grandfather-Karl Wilhelm Pfeiffer - sister, Barbara Magdalena - came to US about same time he did in 1847 or so. No trace of her yet. May have been others that came though that we have no record of. Margaret
I am searching for info on my ggg-grandfather, Elder Aaron C. Grover. He was married to Mary Ann Davis and both were from New York. They lived in Delaware County, Ohio for at least 20 years. They first appeared on the 1870 census in Wood County. I have much info about their descendents but nothing about their ancestors. All of the Aaron Grover descendents in my line are buried in Union Hill including Aaron and Mary Ann, their son George and wife Sarah, their son John and wife Zora, their daughters Elsie, Clara, and Ruth along with their husbands. Also, there is another group of Grovers in Wood County that appear to be connected somehow but I cannot find the connecting family. This groups includes Alonson Grover m Mary Jane Purdy 1869 with the ceremony being performed by Elder A.C. Grover. Alonson's ancestor is Hezekiah Grover. Others in this group include Cyrus, Irvin K., Herman, Oliver, and more. A lot of them are also buried in Union Hill. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Vicki Ashton WCOGS #1310

If anyone can give me any information on Elizabeth and her family I would appreciate it - She was the sister to my great-great-grandmother - Sophia Reugger Pfeiffer. Margaret
The following Wood County Sentinels are up for bids on eBay. They appear to be in excellent condition and the bids start at $20.00. I don't have any significant events in my records for any of these dates, but maybe someone on the list does. The scans aren't very clear, but I can make out ads for some businesses like G.W. Gaghan & Co., Madley the Clothier, A. Van Blarcum Dry Goods and Grocery Store, S.L. Boughton, Hankey & White, Wm. Gott, W.J. Campbell Cider Mill, T.J. Hatfield Furniture, and A.M. Wyckoff Architect, to name a few. This seller has a BUNCH, all from 1876, which appear to be a complete set from April-October. If you go to http://cgi6.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewListedItems&userid=blackswamptradingpost&include=0 you can view which editions he/she has for sale.
Gene, Thanks for checking on that obituary for Helen Rogers in The Blade. Thanks too for correcting the date. (I never would have found it with the mistake on the date!) Nancy Roach
Hi Nancy Roach - Talked to Steve Charter today at BGSU CAC. The Toledo Blade obits are not in the Archival section of the University, but he said he can obtain a copy. I did not have the name with me at the time but will give it to him next Wednesday. I see in the obit notice in the CAC obit file the date is 9 Nov 1982 instead of 1989. Will get back to you later. Hi Pam - We have searched the marriage records in the Wood County Probate Office from Vol. 13 beginning in 1901 through Vol. 21 ending in 1927. We find no record of marriage of Frank Dermer or Susan VanFelt. As she was born in 1883, that covers the period from the age of 18 through 44 for her. We checked both bride and groom. Sorry we could not helped you better. There's a book up for bids on eBay at http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&tc=ps&item=485176926 that someone on the list might be interested in. There is currently only one bid on it in the amount of $5.25. Here's the description posted on eBay: History of WOOD COUNTY, OHIO Early days in Wood County, OH, including the communities of Bowling Green, Perrysburg, North Baltimore, Grand Rapids, Freeport, Tontogamy, Bradner, Pemberville, Weston, Haskins, Bairdstown, Millbury, Jerry City and Rising Sun, are recalled through a mixture of colorful tales and factual data in this new 18 page spiral-bound booklet, reprinted from the 1892 Centennial edition of Henry Howe's Historical Collections of Ohio. The booklet is printed single-sided on 60# paper with the print enlarged 10% for easier reading. Among the many fascinating subjects covered are: Early Military Expeditions; the Effect of Drainage; the First White Settlers; Importance of the War of 1812; Escaping the Pottawatomies; the Last of the Ottawas; Building of Fort Meigs; Langham's Desperate Enterprise; Seige of Fort Meigs; British View of Seige; Dudley's Defeat and Massacre; the second Siege of Ft. Meigs; Speculation in Would-Be Cities; Story of a Bell; Gas, Oil and Lime. Genealogy buffs will find a list of 1888 county officials and businesses. In addition to the booklet, the successful bidder will receive an 8 1/2 x 11 computer-enhanced print of an engraving in the book, suitable for framing. If bidding exceeds $10, one or more additional prints will be included, the total depending on the amount of the final bid. Those available include an 1846 sketch of Perrysburg from Maumee City, a photo of Bowling Green from 1887, the Stafford Exchange Hotel, a sketch of a Pioneer Railroad; and a branch from an Ohio Buckeye.
