Could you tell me how often the Perrysburg Journal was published? Daily? Weekly? Bi-weekly? Since it is on microfilm, perhaps I can order it from SLC and crawl through looking for items regarding my LUSHER family, especially regarding the death of Sarah MOURY/MOWRY Lusher, her daughter Elizabeth LUSHER, possible stepdaughter Mary M. LUSHER, and remarriage of Jacob LUSHER. Dusti
Elizabeth Taylor died Dec. 1905 and was buried at Trinity cemetery. Where is Trinity cemetery and what is the cost to order a copy of her death cert from Wood Co. Thanks, Barb

Hi folks, I found a webpage for the Perrysburg Local History Librarian, inviting readers to send a query via e-mail. Posted here: http://library.norweld.lib.oh.us/perrysburg/lochist.html So I sent my question about how to find and obtain a possible obituary for JOHN ELDER from the PERRYSBURG JOURNAL of 1858-1864. Will let you know the "rest of the story" if I have an answer there! -- Nancy Elder Petersen, Library Internet volunteer Vancouver, Washington, USA http://www.teleport.com/~nancyp/elder.htm
Hi folks, Continuing the search for newspapers: and following in the WOODLINK online catalog: under subject of "Community Newspapers" I found 15 entries, including the PERRYSBURG JOURNAL, which has alot of years on microfilm, listed in Perrysburg library, 1853-1965. Looks like they do have 1858-1864 on one film, which could cover the possible obituary, if they were interested in an assessor and politician named JOHN ELDER from Liberty/Portage Townships! Now to figure out how to get a possible copy from the newspaper? *** Perr Adult 1858-1864 LHst Mcfm In JLF6E -- Nancy Elder Petersen, Library Internet volunteer Vancouver, Washington, USA http://www.teleport.com/~nancyp/elder.htm
Hi folks, I found Perrysburg Library and the Woodlink online catalog, which has a title entry for MAUMEE VALLEY DEMOCRAT: Location info looks like it says: "Microfilm in Perrysburg library Adult section for years of 1854-1856." Guess they might have quit in favor of another newspaper then. Now to figure out what newspaper was publishing political news or obituary news in 1863. *** Perr Adult 1854-1856 LHst Mcfm In JLF6C -- Nancy Elder Petersen, Library Internet volunteer Vancouver, Washington, USA http://www.teleport.com/~nancyp/elder.htm
Hi folks, Funny how re-reading the same pages of the Wood County History can bring up more new names from studying the recently copied ELDER probate papers, which were Admin by N.L. BESANSON. Now I see on the Wood County History, p. 394, where I also just saw Joseph Clark and Elizabeth Elder as teachers, there's a Mrs. Kate Besanson, "employed as teacher in September, 1866", then later on the bottom of the same page, I see MAYORS list:... N.L. BESANSON, 1883 Page 88: After mentioning the election of 1854, where John ELDER lost for sheriff, now I see The MAUMEE VALLEY DEMOCRAT newspaper was quoted on the subject of Know Nothing party, which was listed as John Elder's party (K.N.) I wonder if the MAUMEE VALLEY DEMOCRAT would have been so kind as to publish an obituary of John ELDER in 1863!? Where would they keep copies of the MAUMEE VALLEY DEMOCRAT newspaper? Maybe in Perrysburg Library? -- Nancy Elder Petersen, Library Internet volunteer Vancouver, Washington, USA http://www.teleport.com/~nancyp/elder.htm
Hi Shirley - Joshua Stackhouse and Margaret Tyson were married 31 Dec 1871 according to our marriage license indexes. . According to our record of births there was a Sarah Jane Stackhouse born on 9 October 1872 to Joshua Stackhouse and Margaret Erickson. Some of this handwriting is very poor, it probably is your Margaret Tyson. They do not show in any of our subsequent census indexes, so must not have stayed in Wood County. Still looking for anyone with information on the Henry families of Wood and Sandusky cos. Zadoc Henry, Bani or Benjamin Henry, Hosea Henry m. to Nancy Smith on 5-10-1839, George Henry m. to Nancy Alford on 2-20-1841 and Orrin Henry m. to Mary Basler on 12-5-1861. Trying to find out if these men could be brothers. I know Zadoc was in Wood Co. as early as 1837 as stated in Beers Historical of Wood Co.
