Hi Bryan Lewis A search of our census indexes show a Liman Lewis in 1840 Freedom Township, Wood County, and a George Lewis in Milton Twp in 1850 and 1860. I see no William Lewis in these census indexes. Our index of probate deaths indexes for the period from 1867 through 1908 do not show any death record of George, Lyman or William in Wood County. We also do not show any of them in our obituary index. The Historical and Biographical Record of Wood County published in 1897 has two pages on William Lewis showing him as landowner in Plain Township, Bowling Green, three pages showing George Lewis in Milton Twp in 1850, Postmaster in Washington Twp in 1860 and as a volunteer in the Civil War from Washington Twp. Lyman Lewis shows as early resident in Freedom Twp in 1839. George Lewis and Catherine are buried in Milton Twp Cemetery. Advise if you feel either of these are the Lewis's you are researching. We can provide copies if you wish Gene, WCOGS #503 ----- Original Message ----- From: Bryan Lewis <lewisbrandgenes@hotmail.com> To: <OHWOOD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, March 01, 2001 11:54 AM Subject: QExpress for Wood co., Ohio > > Submitter: Bryan Lewis (lewisbrandgenes@hotmail.com) > Date: 01 Mar 2001 > > I am searching for information on ancesters during their time in Wood County. Hi Nancy - Our index of the Wood County census of 1900 and 1910 do not show any William Stahl. We do not show any burial record of William Stahl or Elizabeth Stahl in our tombstone indexes in Wood County. RisingSun is on the border with Sandusky County, in fact the county line goes right down the middle of town. It could be he lived in Sandusky Co. When I get to Bowling Green this week, I will see if there is anything special about Rising Sun that might help. Hi Debbie Funk - Our index of obituaries shows an Addie Cox Funk died in 1955. We show no Ephraim Funk. Ephriam Funk does show in the 1910 Census in Henry Township Wood County. That is the only record we have of him. There are no record of burial of either Addie or Ephraim Funk in our tombstone readings index in Wood County. . Listers: I acquired a copy of an obit from the Daily Centinel Tribune, Bowling Green Ohio dated Sat Feb 21, 1931 for William STAHL, "Former mayor of Risingsun, dies". At his date of death he was 82 and the services were held at the United Brethren church conducted by the pastor, Rev. C. J. Mericle. I have a William STAHL in my database, who married Elizabeth THORNTON in 1906. I'm wondering if the obit is for my William's uncle as it doesn't list my William as a son. It does list his children: Mrs. I. J. Hill, Mrs. Otho Bragg, Miss Vera Stahl, Merrill, Chalmer & Everett Stahl (sons.) Does anyone have any of these folks in their database? Nancy Plain
It is possible to put a lead on the subject of the listserve mail so it looks like the following: [OHMEIGS] Nehs/Nease, Raush/Roush, Zirchel /Zirkle familes - With this list notification in the subject line (which is done by the administrator in the setup on rootsweb) I automatically know that this is something coming from or for the Meigs County Ohio listserve. I get a lot of mail as I'm sure several others do and because of virus issues I am in the habit of deleting email that comes from a person or screen name I do not recognize. If this header were placed on the listserve then I wouldn't delete listserve mail because I don't recognize the sender. I am a list administrator for the Goeglein list and I also placed it on my list so everyone knows when they receive it that it is from someone on the list. Just a request. I've been working on my family genealogy for the past six months, mostly via the internet so I've never done a lookup of actual birth records and such (primarily because I'm in California and my family is from Ohio). My mother in law noticed my work and has asked me to try and find her birth parents (she was adopted). Is it possible to find relevant information if I know date of birth, city, and hospital, but not names? Or would this information be confidential/sealed or not available because it was as recent as 1951? Thanks for your insight... Larisa Somsel (Researching: Pember, Stahler, Smith)
Hi Cherie - I see an obit for Sarah Hill for 26 Jun 1933 in our index of obits. in the Daily Sentinel Tribune. I see none for Vaud Pilliod, Natalie Pilliod or Donna Heminger. No see no record in our three volumes of Probate Death Records from 1867 to 1908. I see neither of them in our index of tombstone readings in Wood County. As Beverly Miner said, a period of time would be of assistance in tracing such as this - Gene WCOGS #503 ----- Original Message ----- From: <DCAMP5300@aol.com> To: <OHWOOD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, February 21, 2001 4:00 PM Subject: re: Pilliod > I am looking for my great-aunt Natalie Pilliod. Cherie, Can you give us a time period? I did find in the materials I have at home, a listing for an A. Pilliod in the 1897 History of Wood Co. He was a charter member (20 Apr 1888) of the Grand Rapids Lodge, No. 289, K of P. In the 1870, 1900 and 1910 Census records, the only Pilliod I found was Augustine, in Grand Rapids Twp. pg. 111B for 1900. (Probably the same person I mentioned above). There are other census records available in the office, but I just do not keep all of them at home. Beverly Life#77 >I am looking for my great-aunt Natalie Pilliod. Are you aware there is a Pilliod Road in Holland, Ohio, just a few minutes away from Perrysburg? Holland is in Lucas County, Ohio, but only a couple miles from Maumee and Perrysburg.. Perhaps the Lucas County Historical Society or the county library has information on PILLIODs. If you live nearby, you could check the Holland library. If you don't I have two sisters who live only a mile from the library and would be willing to look. Hi Jacque - I looked at the 1850 census of Wood County and found Nathan Badger at age 22 as a carpenter apparently living with Tobias Kudisell, along with a Louisa and Lovia Badger. The 1860 Wood County Census shows him 31 years old and living alone. Steve Charter checked the 1880 census and advises there is a Nathaniel Badger age 42 years old living wife Eunice, age 39 and a son William H. age 2. Steve also says the family shows in the 1880 census in Toledo. These do not gree with your Maria Badger so I did not get any copies. Advise further if you them. Gene, Today I received pension records from the National Archives on Hiram O'Dell. Listed in these records is the record of his divorce from Susan E. O'Dell. February 20, 1893 Journal Vol 32 page 582 of the Clerk of Court Book in Bowling Green, Ohio. Would there be any information in it worth obtaining other than the date of said divorce? If so, would it be possible to get a copy through the WCOGS with a monetary donation? Thanks Pat Kinion
