Looking for info on Geroge Troswell whose estate record was filed in Wood Co. prior to 1850. Francis Carothers was the administrator and Jonathan Salsbury and Henry Dubbs were appraisers. Any help appreciated.
At this time I only have one family that may have been in Wood Co but I have been unable to find them. My g grandfather was Edward Charles Myers(Meyers)and his death record and obit state that he was born Oct 9, 1877 in Bradner Ohio. His father was John Myers(Meyers)born in Ohio mother unknown. He had a brother Lewis and a sister possibly named Rose. This family is a challenge. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If anyone uses the census images at ancestry.com: The last part of Milton Twp. is missing on the 1900 census. On the 1880 they have only 5 enumeration districts for Wood County and for one of these only the last part. (I did e-mail them about this and did receive a response.) There are also some missing enumeration districts on either the 1900 or 1920, forget which. My purpose in writing this is simply information. Please don't use this to get into an off-subject discussion. Keren
Jim, These indexes can be purchased from the WCOGS and are very handy to have at home especially if a lot of your family were from Wood County. I have two of them which have been very useful and am in the process of making out an order for a couple more of their publications. Keren

I'd like to second that suggestion. The indexes are surprisingly affordable: 1830 & 1840 Census, 1989 3.50 1850 & 1860, Index to U.S. Census', 2001 3.50 1870, Index to Heads of Households & Other Last Names, 1985 5.00 1880, Index to Heads of Households & Other Last Names 5.00 1900, Index to Heads of Households & Other Last Names with supplement 8.00 1910, Index to Heads of Houeholds & Other Last Names 8.00 As are other publications on their web site: http://home.att.net/~ohiobuckeye/wdogs/booklist.htm And, of course then you can help do lookups for others, too. Hi Tori - What name are you looking for in the 1880 Census of Wood County. I see an Albert Powers in Montgomery Twp in the 1870 Census in Wood County. Our index of births covering the period from 1867 to 1880 does not show any birth of Samuel or Minnie Powers. There is no record of any chldren born to Albert and Candis Powers during this period. Hi folks, ROE relatives recently sent me cemetery photos from Northern Michigan, where my g-grandfather Josiah ELDER's sister, Mary Ann ELDER ROE and her husband Julius ROE are buried. There are more ROE folks buried in Weston, Wood Co, and I haven't figured out exactly how they are related to Julius. Does anyone know who Julius Roe's father was? Julius was born in Michigan, served in the Civil War from Michigan, but married in Wood Co, where Mary Ann ELDER Roe was born in 1832. Then they are found in the 1860 census for Monroe County MI. Hi folks, Does anyone know these names at Ft. Meigs Cemetery? Hi folks, Does anyone know the Genealogy of JOSIAH MILLER, b. 1801 CT, d. 1865, who built the house "still standing" at 422 East Second Street in Perrysburg? I found the color photo of the house and a sketch about him online here: http://www.historicperrysburg.org/josiah.htm I think he is the JOSIAH MILLER, found in 1850 census for Perrysburg: married Elizabeth ELDER, b. abt 1811 PA She d. 1884, buried in Ft. Meigs Cemetery with Josiah MILLER. Does anyone have a nice family BIBLE that might say "JOHN ELDER's sister ELIZABETH, married JOSIAH MILLER...." Or an obituary for Elizabeth ELDER MILLER in 1884 in Perrysburg? My webpage for the research so far is posted here: http://www.teleport.com/~nancyp/elder/Miller.htm -- Nancy Elder Petersen, Retired School Librarian 14514 NE 52nd Circle Vancouver, WA 98682 Phone: 360-882-1039 http://www.teleport.com/~nancyp/elder.htm
