My Samuel Graber family came from Switzerland in the early to middle1800's. They settled in Wayne and Holmes County of Ohio. In trying to trace this family, I have discovered that some children were named the same first names but were "called" by their middle name. For instance, My great, great grandfather, John Jacob Graber, was called Jacob. He had brothers named John Peter Graber and John Fredrick Graber. This carried down into subsequent generations. Is anyone familiar with Swiss naming conventions that might help me as I track this family?
