Dear Linda: I have just started sorting through my husband's family lines. He has several ancestors with Wayne County connections and I see Smithville on one of them. Any additional information on these names would be greatly appreciated. God Bless America! Alison Barbara Yoder born February 10, 1837 in Smithville. Her parents are listed as Joseph Yoder and Mariah Fordamwalt, married in 1833. Don't know if any of this is accurate. I have Joseph Eshleman marrying same Barbara Yoder on February 15, 1859. Also, not necessarily in Smithville, but certainly in Wayne County: Margaret Norris was born June 19, 1821 in "Mohican"?, Wayne County, Ohio. Ozias Baird married Margaret Norris on April 14, 1845 in Wayne County. The children of these two unions (Mary Ann Eshleman and Emmet Baird) married each other and ended up in Florida via Indiana. They are my husband's great grandparents. We have Mary Ann Eshleman's secretary and her old schoolbooks. They were both school teachers. I think it's neat to have personal items (and photographs if possible) belonging to your ancestors to connect with all of the information uncovered through genealogy work.
