    1. Re: [OHWAYNE] Medina County settlers 1831 timeframe
    2. Sandy, Just be careful you are not assuming that my Elizabeth Hartman, daughter of Peter Hartman of Lehigh county, PA and Medina Co., OH is the same Elizabeth Hartman that married into your Lehr family. Our ancestors really don't like it when we put them with false families. ;^) And keep in mind there were TWO concurrent distinct Hartman families in Wayne and Medina counties. Doesn't help they both used a lot of the same first names. A lot of records (deeds, marriage, probate, diaries, death, newspaper, etc.) have to be examined to get a picture of the whole spaghetti heap and to pull out each family strand by strand. The answer is usually not in just one source, but in evaluating all the sources put together. The answer lies in our analysis of what the individual records tell us tempered with our knowledge of the origination of the source (primary or secondary evidence, original or derivitive source) and the reason that record was created. Hopefully your family will emerge through your investigation of the sources and perhaps we will end up being cousins through the Hartman side, but that proof is yet to be put together.
