For those of you who are descendants of Michael Franck/Franks of Fayette County, PA (c.1725-1793) and missed the opportunity to purchase the 1979 publication of the Michael Franks family history book, we anticipate "going to press" next month for the reprint edition. The original project was undertaken by genealogists Alice Rowley Franks and Donald Sublette, and was sponsored by the Franks Clan Association in Uniontown PA. The reprint will be available "at cost" and will also include a much-needed everyname index. We still need to finalize a few small things, including the total number of books to print. Since we will be offering the book at cost, the size of the print run has a big impact on the price of the book. Relatively speaking, the larger the print run, the lower the per-book cost. A few comments on this reprint edition - 1. It includes an every-name index (the original was not indexed). 2. This reprint edition is basically just that - a reprint of the original book, with no updates or additions to the text, and thus no additional generations are included. Some brief "reprint notes," however, have been added to the text. 3. The Franks book reprint will be hardbound. 4. The book will be available to you "at cost" - which includes the manuscript preparation and indexing costs; printing and binding costs; packaging, postage and insurance costs. The manuscript has been brought up to current publishing standards, and the book is approximately 500 pages including the index. At this point, we expect the purchase price not to exceed $40. The final price will depend on the number of books we will have printed. Please contact me at sflein@aol.com if you have any questions on the reprint, or if you are interested in purchasing a copy of this book. Thank you, Susan Franks Leininger
