    1. [OHWAYNE] Houck (Hauck)/Albert
    2. Sue Sablic
    3. Hello, all, My gr-gr-gr grandfather, John (Johann) Adam Houck (Hauck) married Isabella Albert in Sugar Creek Twp. Wayne Co., OH in 1838. I have been unable to find any earlier information on them. John was born abt 1800 in Darmstadt Germany; Isabella evidently in Ohio, but I've never found any parents for her. She may have had a brother, or other relative, by the name of James Albert who purchased some items at an auction after John's death in 1861. John is listed as a physician in the 1850 census record for Centre Twp., Williams Co. OH, so I would think he was also a physician in Wayne Co. I'd like very much to find any information either of these 2 people, especially John's being a physician, but am not sure where to start looking. Does anyone out there have any suggestions? Thanks for any help you can give. Sue Sablic Indiana sablics@skyenet.net

    1. [OHWAYNE] Wade, Winkler, Smith, Rawson, Lehr Families
    2. Hi, I was given your email address by a fellow researcher. I'm a decendant of Ester Wade of Wayne, Wooster, OH in the 1820's. Ester Wade married James Winkler, 6 Apr 1826 in Wayne, OH. I'm trying to find out if she divorced James or if she died, and where she is buried. I'm a decendant of Mary Jane Winkler who I believe was her daughter along with Elizabeth Winkler. I understand that James remarried Lucinda Boydston 14 Nov 1833 in Medina, OH and he is buried there with 2 of his 4 children by Lucinda. I'm also looking for records of Mary Jane's birth place/records. I believe she was born around Mar 1829 in Wayne, OH. I'm also wondering if Dorcas Wade was related to her. Dorcas Wade was married to John Winkler around 18 Jan 1821 (probably in Wayne, OH). Any info on any of the family members would be deeply appreciated. I haven't been able to locate the grave of Mary Jane Winkler Lehr and know that she was last in the 1900 Schaller, IA census living with her daughter (Adaline) & family of Franklin Smith. Also Amy Fuller was listed. I think Mary Jane Winkler died in 1903, but I can't find a grave in Schaller, IA area. She is not burried with her husband Isaac Lehr in DePue, Bureau, Il as he died 15 Dec 1865. If you have any info on how he died, I would appreciate that also. Also looking for info on their children: Mary A. (Adaline) Lehr Smith, Alice A. Lehr Poke (married Justus L. Poke), Marvin Allen Lehr (married Rose Luvilla Francisco, Lehr Martin) and Frank Edwin Lehr (married Laura A. Rawson). Thank you for your time and efforts. Merry Christmas. Sandy at a brick wall.

    3. Sandy; I would again point you to the Wayne County Library. They have these records on microfilm, will copy the records for you, at a VERY minimal cost. Think it is .05 or .10 cents a copy. ONLY! If you look at the Library web site, there is an e-mail address. Contact them thru that, they will get back to you VERY shortly. Or use the US Postal service. They have the burial records for all of Wayne County, plus many other resources. There is LOTS of Lehr information in this library as the Lehr's lived in Wayne County for many years. There is also some personal research available there. I have seen the book there. When you write to them, either snail or e-mail, they will use all those resources to answer your questions. You will be very pleased with what they send you. And again it is that minimal cost. Most libraries or historical societies charge a $25.00 minimum, but not Wayne County. This library is an amazing resource!! You do yourself a dis-service if you do not write to them. The ladies there are efficient and they care about getting you the information you seek. Theda

    1. [OHWAYNE] Winkler, Lehr, Wade, Boydston
    2. Mary Jane Winkler was in the 1850 census with Frances "Fanny" Winkler for Wayne, OH. I don't have any more info on that. Mary Jane Winkler Lehr is in the 1860 census for Bureau, IL., age 31, born Ohio. Mary Jane Winkler Lear is in the 1870 census for Bureau, IL., age 41, born Ohio. Mary Jane Winkler Lehr is in the 1880 census for Bureau IL, age 51, born Ohio. Mary Jane Winkler Lehr is in the 1900 census for Schaller, IA, age 71, born Ohio Mar 1829. I can't find any birth certificate or record for her. I believe she was born in Wayne, OH or Medina, OH. I don't know any church she may have gone to except Wayne Presybeterian where her grandmother is buried. I haven't been able to get any info on how to get copies of the church reocrds. I have not been able to find out where she died or is buried. Schaller, IA states there is no one by that name in their cemeteries. This is why I'm trying to find out if she is buried with her mother Ester Wade Winkler (probably) or Lucinda Boydston Winkler (possible). I don't think either of the women are buried with the husband/father James Winkler buried in Mt. Zwinghi, Cem, Sharon Twp. Medina, OH. I can't get any info on that cemetery either. Mary Jane Winkler was widowed in 1865 from Isaac Lehr in Bureau, Il. I can't get any info on his death. I know the cemetery, but they say there are no records other than he is buried there. I haven't had any luck with the Il State Archives. I gues that Isaac & Jacob Lehr could have spelled their names Lear. Can you look in the 1850 census for Ester Wade Winkler and any other Wades? Can you look in the 1860 & 1870 census for Ester Wade Winkler, Lucinda Boydston Winkler and any Wades, Boydston or Winkler? I know that Lucy & James died Apr 15 & 23 - 1865 in Medina, OH. Looking for where they are buried. No info on David & Mariah Winkler. I will send for the military files and pension records. Have a great Veterans Day! Thank you so much for your help. You are super! I'm open to any other suggestions to break through my brick wall. Sandy in VA. .
