I just bought a book off of Ebay, not knowing it was already published online, called THE ESCAPE OF JANE by Henry Burke. It's about a runaway slave from the Harris Plantation in Wood Co. Virginia (now WV) across the Ohio River into Washington Co., and her different stops at several Underground Railroad Stations in Wash. Co. Before I read the book, I didn't know that Julius Deming (husband of Mary Ann Deming) helped in the escape of slaves. Mary Ann Deming is the dau. of Ezekial and Hannah Parke Deming. Other Washington Co. surnames are mentioned in the book too. I found the book to be VERY INTERESTING AND EDUCATIONAL. You might want to read it too.
