This is an article from the Jan 8 1919 CALDWELL PRESS: SOUTH OLIVE P M JORDAN, Miss Lela HAINES, Mrs. Dora McFARLAND and son Wayne were at Caldwell, Tuesday, of last week. ***** M C OGLE was at Elba, Tuesday, of last week on business. ***** Mr and Mrs Orval ADDIS visited the latter's parents, Mr and Mrs Len HARPER, New Year's. ***** Mrs. Cora GARDNER and Mr and Mrs Dow KING, of Dexter city, visited Ed DAVIS, New Year's day. ***** Mr and Mrs Orn WEBBER visited their daughter, Mrs Clara DAVIS, New Year's. ***** Hazel BOYD spent New Year's with Mrs Frank DAVIS. ***** Nina and Martin DAVIS visited Mrs J S BOYD, Wednesday. ***** Calvin GOODWELL and daughter, Mrs Virga TILTON visited at Macksburg, New Year's. ***** Cliff SHILLINGS and Henry BARNHART drove the hearses to the funeral of Mrs Jane WALLER at Smith's ridge, Thursday. ***** Mrs John WELLS and Mrs Emmit HAGA visited Mrs Minnie SHRIVER's Thursday. ***** Mrs Nan WILLIS, Mrs. Viola BARNHART and Mrs Freda SANFORD visited Mrs William FOSTER at Elba, Thursday. ***** Wilber KEITH and family, of Caro, Illinois, visited his parents, Mr and Mrs Elmer KEITH, last week. ***** Mrs Mattie OGLE was called to Caldwell, Thursday, to see her father, Val CAIN, who is sick. ***** Word has come through the Red Cross workers that Thomas ADDIS is not dead as was reported but in a hospital badly wounded. Mhis many friends will be glad to hear that he is alive and hope to see him home soon. ***** Sarah TILTON visited her daughter, Mrs May WILEY, at Caldwell, a few day last week. ***** Marie LANDAKER went to Caldwell Friday evening to stay a few days with her aunt Mary SANFORD, who is not very well. ***** Charlie CROSSEN and wife, of Dexter City, spent Friday with his mother, Mrs Elmer KEITH. **** Rado JOHNSON was at Caldwell between trains Saturday morning. ***** Charley DAVIS, of Cambridge, visited his father and mother mr and Mrs Randa DAVIS, Friday night. ***** D M JORDAN went Friday to Newbreman to visit his son Elmer and family for a few days. ***** Dr DEEREN, of Mackburg, was called Saturday to see Mrs Elizabeth FOGLE and Mrs Anna HAINES, who are very sick. ***** School commenced here Monday. Here's hoping that it won't have to be closed down again on account of the flu. ***** Rev.
