This is my 2003 Addenda to my 1976 Index to : "The Genealogical History of the Archer Family" by M.B. Archer, F.J. Heer Co., Columbus, 1919. This 100 pp. book was compiled by Martin B. Archer (1860-1924), a former Noble Co., OH Probate Judge and Ohio State Senator based on extensive interviews of and letter correspondence with his near and distant relatives in Noble Co., OH; Wood and Jackson Cos., WV, Swift Co., MN, and Norton Co., KS during the period 1890-1918. My addenda is based on 30 years of records verification of the data in M.B. Archer's book. I have avoided using any secondary sources, such as L.H. Watkins' 1887, "History of Noble County" preferring primary and family sources who personally knew the principals they described. I believe this material will be new to Archer family researchers. I have much more genealogical material on many of the families mentioned in this book and will be happy to exchange information with researchers whether they have a copy of the book or not. The book and my Index with the 1976 errata and addenda are in many genealogical libraries around the United States. A reprint of the 1919 book is available from: Higginson Book, Co., 148 Washington St., PO Box 778, Salem, MA 01970; 978-745-7170; http://www.higginsonbooks.com (higginsn@cove.com). The 1976 Index is available from Higgenson separately from the book. (Disclaimer: I have no financial interest in Higgenson's products or the 1976 Index.) The 1919 book without the index is also available as a microfilm copy: Library of Congress Microfilming Division as a copy of the original which has been retired from circulation as it was too brittle: :LC Call No.: CS71.A67 1919; Microfilm 74737 CS; Control No.:9711430. My 2003 ADDENDA DOES NOT INCLUDE THE COMPLETE INDEX. IT IS ONLY A 2003 ADDENDA TO THE INDEX What is included in this 2003 Addenda: 1. Martin B. Archer's unpublished additions and corrections 2. Corrections of typos and printer's errors 3. Correction of misleading spelling of names 4. Some comments on name variants of French and German names that will aid in records searches.
