Hello, Found this tidbit at the Washington County Public Library website. Has anyone gone down and used the books yet? Valerie The Local History and Genealogy Branch has received 192 books from the Washington County Auditor's Office, thanks to the Washington County Commissioners, Auditor Bill McFarland, Steve Weber, who transported the books, and by permission of the state records commission. These are Treasurer's Duplicates, books that list the payments of every taxpayer in Washington County for the years 1825-1899 and 1810, listed by township or corporation. They will be useful to genealogy researchers to find persons who do not appear in censuses but were known to be here between censuses, to establish dates of moving away, to determine relative property values, etc. The books are now available for researchers to use. There are also books of plat maps for the county from 1853.
