Just by opening the packets, I can tell you that Marjorie Davis Shelton published an article in " The Tallow Light", vol. 30 # 3 and continued in vol. 30 # 4, the article was called " Stone Walls, Dead Ends, Fires and Floods, Encountered in the search for the Ancestors of Dudley Davis and Mercy Wood". There also is a prologue in " The Tallow Light", named: Stone Walls, Dead Ends, Fires and Floods, A Prologue: How the Walls were Breached". Marjorie D. Shelton credits research by a woman named Janet Ireland Delorey of Shrewsbury, MA, she apparently has a written a book about Jesse Davis, there is a copy in the Marietta Public Library, and at this point there should be copies in Washington County Historical Society and Marietta College. (NOTE: Jesse Davis is the s/o James Davis and Rachel Marble, and a brother to our Dudley Davis). These packets were mailed to me in Sept. 2000, at that time Marjorie gave me an address of Janet Ireland Delorey where you could write to her and buy a copy of the book about Jesse Davis, 3 yrs later, I do not know if the address is still correct, but here goes: Janet Delorey 496 Main St. Shrewsbury, MA 01545 Price: $ 23.50 (postage covered in price, 129 pgs) I would suggest copying or buying copies of "The Tallow Light", vol. 30, #'s 3 & 4, not sure if Marjorie's articles continue into later copies, may also want to buy a copy of Janet Delorey's book.
