In 1860, my gr-gr-grandfather, David F. Kidder/Keeder (born in 1809; wife was Catherine, born about 1815 - might have been 4 or 5 children at home in 1870), owned land in Independence Township. In 1881, he bought land in Pleasants County, West Virginia. I looked all through the 1870 census in Pleasants County, and he is not there. I haven't gone through all of the Washington County Townships yet. I have already gone completely through the following townships: Belpre (but only AFTER page 18), Belpre Village, Buells Lowell, Coal Run, Grandview, Independence, Ludlow, Matamoras, Newport, Salem, Warren, Waterford and Watertown. I'm having trouble with Belpre Township - pages 1 through 18 cannot be read. I'm hoping someone can help me out on this one. Thanks, Dave Rader Kent, OH
