I've "rescued" two old photographs both belonging to the HUMISTON Family of Chicago, Illinois. The first photograph is of Henry HUMISTON and is dated July 1889. There is no location noted and the subject appears to be in his 50's at the time. The second photograph is of John Means HUMISTON, taken at the Howe Studio in Chicago, Illinois, it is dated Jan 1891. John appears to be in his teens at the time this photograph was taken. Based on limited research I find Henry HUMISTON b. 3 Feb 1834 in Washington Co., Ohio and d. 7 May 1926 at Berwyn, Illinois. His parents were Jason HUMISTON and Margaret Shaw MCNEAL, and he had at least three older siblings, Giles HUMISTON; Warren HUMISTON; and Linus HUMISTON. I also find H. HUMISTON age 46, a jeweler, born in OH, with parents born in CT and VA, residing in Chicago, IL during the 1880 census along with his family, wife Margaret, and two sons, Henry W. age 11, and John M. HUMISTON age 8. I believe these are probably the people pictured in the photographs. My hope is that these precious old photographs can be returned to their rightful place with family.
