    3. Ever wonder where I got the Civil War bust photo of William Bion Mason that I have submitted to various websites? Maybe some of you have seen it, and others have not. Anyway....I recieved a photo copy of the pic after I ordered it from the following website (about 5 yrs. ago),. I know that most people know this database website, but maybe others don't. This is why I am sending the List this info. Just in case some of you don't know about it. :o) Here's how to find out if a photo of your Civil War Ancestor exists in the Special Collections Branch of USAMHI Please keep in mind that these are discriptions of the pics ONLY. You have to order them, but since I ordered mine 5 yrs. ago, the prices have not changed much. And I think the prices are pretty reasonable. Visit the web site of MHI Photograph Database http://carlisle-www.army.mil/usamhi/PhotoDB.html Scroll down the to SEARCH FORM There are several ways to find out if they have a pic of you ancestor. I will give you an example of how I found one of my own. :o) I found William Bion Mason's pic two ways. 1. In the SEARCH FORM, I typed in the words "William Mason" After I clicked on Find Keywords, it brought me to another screen with this info: MASON (52 records) WILLIAM (2749 records) WILLIAM AND MARY COLLEGE (1 record) WILLIAM PENN (1 record) WILLIAMS (110 records) WILLIAMSBURG (3 records) WILLIAMSON (15 records) WILLIAMSPORT (4 records) I checked BOTH boxes of MASON and WILLIAM, and clicked on FIND MATCHING PHOTO'S Bingo.....There was the description of the pic. Another way of finding him is typing in: 2. Type in the SEARCH FORM OVI 77 Brought me to this screen: 77TH REGT. (183 records) OVIATT (1 record) OVID (1 record) I checked the 77TH REGT. box. and clicked on Find Keywords. It took me to a screen of all the pics in the database that relate to the 77 Regt. (Some were of not only Ohio Volunteer Infantry (OVI), but in PA. NY, and others.) If anyone finds a pic of their ancestor, there are directions on how to order a photo copy. Let me know if you do find a Civil War Ancestor. And I'll kick myself in the butt, for not letting you all know about this sooner. ha ha Duh!!! I just never thought of it until now.
