    2. Beverly Dispatch August 23, 1912 Charles A Wilson Taken Suddenly Charles A. Wilson, for many years lockmaster at this place, and one town’s best citizens, died at his home last Sunday of heart failure. Mr. Wilson had long been a sufferer from indigestion, and acute attacks of his disorder was the exciting factor that over three the heart action resulted in his untimely demise. The news of his sudden death came as a shock to the entire community as he was apparently in his usual health up until Thursday evening, and very few had learned of his illness. At that time he had a severe attack of indigestion but by Sunday morning was considerably improved, and his condition was not regarded as serious, either by his family, his attending physicians or himself. Sunday noon, however, he was seized with an unusually severe attack. Medical aid was hastily summoned but in spite of it he rapidly weakened and within a very short time life was extinct. The deceased was born February 29th 1860, and his entire life was lived in this neighborhood. On December 24th 1893 he was united in marriage to Ella M. Sherman, who with three children, two boys and one girl survive Frank aged 17, Mary aged 14 and Walter aged 12. Charlie Wilson was a man whose life was an open book. He lived a good, clean honest existence and his friends were legion. He long connection with the river interests gave him a wide acquaintance among steamboat and river men, who will mourn his sad and sudden death He was for years, an officer of the Beverly Fire Company and had been repeatedly elected to official connection with the educational interests of this section. Progressive in his ideas yet thoughtful considerate of others his gentlemanly manner and kindly disposition endeared his to the hearts of all who knew him. The funeral services were held at the home on Tuesday morning conducted by C. F. Joseph, and the I. O.O. F. Lodge of which he was a faithful and honored member, laid the body to rest in the beautiful Beverly Cemetery. Linda LRHall175@aol.com
