Since we were talking about maps before I thought I would forward this. Bob Moyer put up many Ohio River, and Rivers in Ohio <G>maps Eliz ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Bob Moyer <[email protected]> Date: Fri, Oct 3, 2008 at 8:39 PM Subject: [OHATHENS] Upper Ohio River and Town Maps To: [email protected] My great-great grandfather was Martin Heckard (1809-1877), a lawyer in Pomeroy and many of his clients were on both sides of the river from Cincinnati to Wheeling. He also practice law in Athens and other counties inland and was one of the early teachers at Meigs Academy in Chester. He grew up in Columbiana and Jefferson Counties and came down to Meigs County about 1832. A few years ago I compiled some property owner river maps for the year 1877 and thought now might be a good time to make them available for everyone at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~moyer/Ohio-River-Maps/index.htm Please feel free to download them - they are large files - but excellent quality. They are in PDF format so you can print any section or part that you need - just save them to your computer. There's also a link on the page to another source where I found some Revolutionary War Pension Applications (original documents) for SE Ohio and West Virginia and I added an example. I stumbled on these because they were prepared by Mr. Heckard when he was a lawyer. Too bad the applicants were not our family . . . . the last name was Frasher. I hope you find the maps as useful as I have. Please feel free to pass this information along to any other mailing lists or researchers. My plans are to eventually finish the set which runs from Cincinnati to Pittsburgh as time permits. Good luck with your research.
