Who Involved: Fifty 8th Grade Students at Marietta Middle School, Student Assistance Class, What: Veterans Day Program, with special attention to those who served our Nation the the American Revolution. When:Veterans Day, November 11, 2008, 12:50pm to 1:40pm Where: Mound Cemetery, Fifth Street, Marietta, Ohio. (In case of rain the program will be held at the Middle School using a power point presentation). The Marietta Chapter Sons of the American Revolution will present a special program on Veterans Day at Mound Cemetery. At the request of Judith Perrin, Marietta Middle School teacher, chapter members in Revolutionary period dress, will conduct a Memorial Service and walking tour of Revolutionary War Patriot gravesites. The Student Assistance Class, led by Perrin and Dennis Riley have begun studies his week on the Revolutionary War. This class alows students to go more in depth into specialized topics and research projects. Each student will receive a Mound Cemetery program guide with a map of Mound Cemetery noting the location of 37 Revolutionary War Patriots and a short story on each. The sudents will also visit the DAR Plot where 51 SAR markers have been placed for Revolutionary War Patriots of the County with unkown burial sites. In case of rain, the program will be held at Marietta Middle School and will include a power point presentation that includes Patriots from the Marietta area.
