I recently found this indenture in a book of Monroe County Genealogical Records published by Catharine Foreacker Fedorchak (on bottom of email). It places my ancestor (William WILSON and his wife Sarah HILL) in Monroe County in 1835 but I can't seem to locate them in 1840. I cannot map him to any census records in Monroe at the time. William Wilson and family show up in Tyler County, (West) Virginia in 1850 and in Meigs County OH in 1860. They are from PA originally but where I am not sure. My Wilson family is associated with RIGGS, DYE, and REEVES families in Meigs County Ohio and these families came from the Monroe and Washington County OH areas prior to Meigs. My Wilson family is also associated with the following families in Monroe: HILL, William of 1840-1880 (Adams, Sunsbury, Malaga Twps) - brother to William Wilson's wife WRIGHT, Robert of 1830-1870 (Green Twp) - father of William Hill's wife CUNNINGHAM, James of 1830-1870 (Woodsfield) Other related families, who married into William HILL's family include BOOTH, GRATIGNY, STEWARD, RICHNER, THORNBERRY. Other families associated with the WRIGHTs indlue HENTHORN. I know there are a lot of Wilsons in this area but can anyone offer any suggestions on how to sort through them all? Thanks in advance, Rick Wilson New York, NY [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) =========================== This indenture, made this 12th day of August in the year of our Lord, One Thousand, Eight Hundred and Thirty Five by and between Catharine Eckleberry of the one part, and William Wilson of the other part, both of the County of Monroe, in the State of Ohio.
