Would you post it for me. thought some body might be interested in it. William L. Phillips This was in The News Gazette of Champaign-Urbana Illinois. Monticello, IL-- James H. Powell, 85, of Monticello passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at the Farmer City Rehab Center, Farmer City, De Witt Co., Illinois. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2009, at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Friday at the Danville National Cemetery (Danville, Vermilion Co., Illinois) with military rites. James was born on September 23, 1923, in Belpre, Washington Co., Ohio, the son of George and Mary (Gaines) Powell. Surviving are his daughter, Nancy (Thomas) Giddings of Hemet, California., Esther (Guy) Giddings of Monticello, Illinois., Susan (Ben) Ward of Cheyenne Wyoming., and Jennie (Clyde) Horton of Monticello, Illinois; a son Jimmie Powell of Danville, Illinois; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a sister Pearl Lane of Urbana, Illinois. He was precede in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters. James was a retired Staff Sergeant from the Air Force, serving in Vietnam. He worked in the maintenance department at the University of Illinois. He was a member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans.
