Intrigued by the mystery I decided to see what I could find. I'll begin with my last discovery - found in a secondary source. If you subscribe to ancestry do a Joseph Woodsmansee search. One result in the ? (newspapers and publications) should be "James Rogers and His Descendants" by James Swift Rogers, Boston 1902 - p. 90 Descending from # 59 John Howard was Martha b.12 Mar 1746 who married William Howard, a s/o Ebeneezer. Included in the children listed for Martha and William Howard: John - m. Mary Newburg Betsey - m. Joseph Woodmansee Nancy - m. Abijah Beebe (there may have been more children...don't remember) You've already found the other Woodmancys in 1850 = Elizabeth appears to have had a son that died. 1840 Peter Angle Jr. is on the same page as Abijah and Alex. Beebe (00001 210001001) I supposed the 60-69 y/o f was Elizabeth. 1830 - New London Co., Conn, Groton Betsey Woodmansee - 0001 00000001 (50-59) The only Woodmansee household in Groton. 1820 New London Co., Groton Elis-a Woodmansee - 100000 00001 1810 New London - Groton Jos. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! The mystery is now solved. So... This Elizabeth is def. the sister of Nancy Howard Beebe. I have their parents as William Howard and Martha Rogers. Other children were William and John Howard. Again.... Thanks a bunch. I wish that every brick wall was as easy as this to knock down. I found the book that you mentioned. Hummm.... The book states that he was the same Joseph Woodmansee that lost an eye in the massacre at Groton Heights. According to his RW pension information that I found on Heritage Quest Online, he died in 1813.
