    3. Charles V. Quimby Sr., 89 ZANESVILLE - Charles V. Quimby Sr., 89, of South Zanesville, died at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007, at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born Oct. 6, 1918, in Washington County, a son of the late Vernon C. Quimby And Laura A. Allison Quimby Ellis. He retired from the Dura Corporation after 32 years of service as a machinist. He was a member a U.S. Coast Guard serving during World War II. He was a member of the South Zanesville United Methodist Church, American Legion and the South Senior Club. Charles' life centered around his grandchildren and his love of gardening. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn K. Calendine Quimby, whom he married July 2, 1944; a son, Charles V. "Sonny" (Sharon) Quimby Jr. Of Zanesville; two daughters, Penny J. Sherrick of South Zanesville and Cindy L. Stottsberry of Zanesville; seven grandchildren, Nonnie ( Phil) Williams, Marcie (Jason) Wilson, Summer (Jeff) Smith, Jeff (Shelly) Stottsberry, Amanda Stottsberry, Lance Colt Sherrick and Tyler Sherrick; six great-grandchildren, Emily, Gracie, Sierra, Dawson, Spencer and Logan; a brother, Howard D. ( Rosemary) Ellis of Beverly; and two sisters, Helen Luke of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Reva Swayne of Cadiz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Lena Fisher, Cleda Stiers and Ella Lou Pabst; two brothers, Raymond Quimby and Othel Quimby; and two son-in-laws, Lance Sherrick and Jeff Stottsberry. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 9, at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, at the funeral home with the Rev. Joy French officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetry, where VFW George Selsam Post 1058 will conduct military rites.
