Jacob Schafer was born in Saal Cusel Bavarian Pfalz Germany, 1836, the son of Jacob and Catherina (nee Gerhardt). The family settled in Fearing Twp near Marietta Ohio. He emigrated from Germany @ 1855. My g-grandmother, Caroline was their eldest child. Children also included, Elisabeth "Lizzie", Jacob H., William and George.
