Joseph REESE and Margaret FULMER were married in Washington county during December 1838. In the 1840 census of Jolly township, Peter FULMER (father of Margaret), Joseph "REECE", and John WEAVER are listed on the same census page. There were 3 young children listed in the REECE home, probably only the youngest of whom would have been Margaret's child - perhaps William, b. abt. 1834, Cassander b. 1838, and Abrahama, b. abt. 1840. In the 1850 census of Jolly township, John and Margaret WEAVER have Margaret REESE (given as age 25, would place her born about 1824 - if accurate, she was only about 14 when she married Joseph?), along with Mary J. (age 4) and Sarah A. (age 2) REESE. I believe Joseph REESE was deceased at this time. In the 1860 census of Ludlow township (Jolly township was divided during the 1850's and no longer existed), John and Margaret WEAVER have Sarah A. REESE, age 13, and Serena N. REESE, age 5 in their home. I also have David HARMON and his wife Ann McCAMESH raising Cassander and Abraham REESE in the 1850 census of neighboring Monroe county. In 1860, David is living in Wayne county, Illinois with Abraham REESE and Mary Jane REESE in his home. Cassander REESE married Sylvester Washington RICHARDS in Wayne county, Illinois about 1857. I am speculating that Mary Jane in the HARMON home during 1860 was the same Mary J. shown in the WEAVER home during 1850, and a full sister of Abraham, who was born about 1840. Cassander REESE was my gg-grandmother. From what information I have, she was born in 1838, so was probably not Margaret FULMER's daughter, although she may have raised her until Joseph's presumed death prior to 1850. This leaves me wondering why Margaret REESE was living with the WEAVER couple in 1850 (perhaps only a house servant?). If Joseph REESE was deceased by 1850, where does Serena N., born about 1855, fit in? Where did Margaret go after the 1860 census? Any information appreciated.
