Born in Vincent, Ohio, Vivian was the first member of her family to graduate from college, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Ohio University in 1940. She was a school teacher in Vincent and Belpre, Ohio and married Robert L. Farrell in June of 1942. They moved the family to Upper Arlington, Ohio in 1952 where they raised two sons, made many friends and traveled extensively throughout North America Preceded in death by parents Gilbert and Bertha Thompson, sister Ruth Strickland, brothers Willard Thompson and John Thompson, and husband of more than 50 years Robert Leo Farrell. Survived by sons, Mark T. Farrell of Columbus, Ohio and Keith R. Farrell (wife and daughter-in-law Jean V. Farrell) of Pahrump, Nevada; and grandson, Jason T. Farrell of Columbus; sister, Lila (Bob) Bollinger of Louden, Tennessee. Family requests no calling hours. Private graveside family service at Barlow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ohio University. Arrangements by WEIR-AREND FUNERAL HOME, 268-3593.
