Nor did he have any idea as he fondly shaped the rockers and carefully fitted the sides with dowel pins, to make the cradke for his daughter, Sybil Ann Nulton that in a little over one hundred years there would be another little Sybil Ann smiling happily from its depths. The first Sybil grew up to marry T. B. Townsend of Zanesville and the beautiful Townsend home on East Market street where the big lions have slept peacefully guarding the entrance for many years, was where they lived. Mr. Townsend was one of Zanesville's best known contractors and capitalists during the formative years of the cty's growth. The Bateman Funeral Home is now occupying this grand old house. When Mrs. T. B. Townsend had children of her own, it was natural that they should have been rocked in the cradle which her father had made for her. These children were, Mrs. Rufus C. Burton, Mrs. L. K. Brown and the late Orville N. Townsend. In due time Harriett Townsend became Mrs. Rufus C. Burton and her two daughters, Sybil and Rowena were also put to bed in the dear little cradle. In the meantime Mary Townsend became Mrs. Lewis Kemmerer Brown and her son Townsend was also one of the children who called the cradle his safe resting place during babyhood. His son was born to him and Mrs. Josephine Beale Brown also rocked in the cradle. When Miss Rowena Burton became Mrs. Ned Dodd, three children were born to them, Hariett, Rowena, and Burton. All three called the cradle their own! Today little Sybil Ann Norman, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William I. Norman of Normandy road sleeps in the cradle as a little girl of the fifth generation to occupy it. It will be treasured carefully for her own children we feel quite sure! Mr. and Mrs. Norman were married April 1936 in Grace Methodist Church (Zanesville, Ohio) and on May 25, 1939, Sybil Ann was born. She was named for her Aunt, Miss Sybil Burton and the Ann put in for euphony, but after she was duly named they realized that she really was a namesake of the very first Sybil Ann to occupy the cradle. Mrs. Norman attended Goucher College and Ohio State University and is a member of the Junior Bethesda League. Mr. Norman attended Muskingum College and Ohio State and is an engineer at the American Rolling Mill. They are both members of Grace Methodist church. Little Sybil Ann will be too, when she grows up, for this is most truly a "Cradle of Methodists"!
