I think these early records of death were dependant upon a relative or neighbor, etc. reporting them. Consequently they may not include all deaths. They amount to one line, in a register, going across two pages, as I recall. Death records are something you can probably check while in Marietta. If you use a family history center, these records can be ordered for both Washington and Franklin counties. (FHL filmed records are for 1867 -1908) One question is, where did George die, so... George was a farmer - did he own the land? If so there might be a record of sale by himself or "Heirs of." If George was deceased you might find something in Probate records regarding his estate, and possibly his death. Possibly new information and perhaps your Catherine: (from transcriptions or images at http://labs.familysearch.org) In the 1900 census of Franklin Co., OH, Columbus,Ward 13, ED: 98, Sh: 8, 409 Rest (?) St. (164/17?) was a Catherine Siebert, widowed and head of the household. According to the census she'd given birth to 8 children, 7 of whom were living. She owned her house free of mortgage. Three of the children were in her household. Rosy was listed as 27 ("Mar 1875"), Henry 22 ("Sept 1877"), and Frank 19 ("Oct 1880") They were enumerated on 07 June. There was over-writing and apparent "corrections" in this census so interpretation of some of the numbers may be incorrect. I'm presuming this is your Catherine and because she owned her house free of mortgage, one wonders whether she or George bought it. If nothing is found in Washington Co. regarding George's death, you might find something in the Franklin County land, death and/or probate records A Marriage for "Frank Seibert" included birth year of 1882 with his father listed as "George" and his mother as "Catherine Sipple." He was married 02 July 1907 in Hamilton Co., OH. Although Henry William's DC gives his birth year as 1878 (beta.familysearch.org), his marriage record gives his birth year as 1877. His father is listed as George in the marriage record but the name of his mother was not included. I also wonder if "Tracy" of the 1880 census should have been Treecy or Tareecy as a nickname for Theresa. There is Franklin County death for Theresa Seibert (13 Oct 1889 (bur. 15 Oct) She was 19 years old. Her parents were listed as George Seibert and Catherine Seibert. I don't recall seeing Theresa in Greenlawn Cemetery where Henry and his wife were buried, but I might have missed her. But if not, where-ever she might be, that cemetery might include one or both of her parents. You might also check county histories for any inclusion of George and his family. A bio for one of their children (or biographical date for the spouse of one of their children) might include vital information on George and/or Catherine. I hope this aids you in your pursuit of George and Catherine's death information. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
