Felter Sr. Richard O. ?Dick? Felter Sr., 72, died at 7 a.m. Monday (Aug. 13, 2007) at his home on Morris Loop Road, Marietta. He was born Nov. 5, 1934, in Marietta, a son of Isaac and Rebecca Constable Felter. He attended Marietta schools and spent his entire life in Marietta. He served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959 and was a longtime employee of R. O. Wetz Transportation, from which he retired. He enjoyed spending time at home watching westerns and listening to classic country. He also liked animals of all kinds, including birds, squirrels and other local wildlife. On Sept. 17, 1955, he married Helen ?Sandy? Colyer, who died Jan. 29, 2006. Their daughter, Sandra Lynn ?Ink? Felter, died at the age of 17. He is survived by two sons, Richard Felter Jr. (Carol) of Marietta and Mahlen ?Mike? Felter (Misty) of Washington, W.Va.; two daughters, Sue Berry (Ted) of Marietta and Dee Kidd of Marietta; his grandchildren, Steve Felter, T.J. Berry (Toni), Ericka Schneider (Matt), Jonni Tucker (Gary), Josh Kidd (Hollie), Sheena Kidd (Ronnie) and Emily Felter; and several great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and daughter, he was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James, Henry and Oscar Felter; and six sisters, Minnie Secoy, Dorothy Ritchie, Emma McKitrick, Clara Waters, Rosie Hutchinson, and Ellen Burchett. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Chris Longgrear officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery with full military rites.
