Beavers, Thomas & Sarah Spencer m. 12 Feb. 1798 Littlejohn (This is the oldest Beavers marriage in Loudoun Co., VA) In the above marriages, the abbreviations at the end mean the following: Shel. - Shelburne Parish Cam. - Cameron Parish ParReqA: New Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lovettsville. Apparently the originial minutes of this church were sent to Gettysburg, PA. The copy left at this church was translated from German in 1970. Perhaps the Leggs were Germans? Littlejohn was a minister who rode a circuit. So lots of marriages performed by him. 1810 Loudoun Co., Virginia census Name: Lewis Legg County: Loudoun State: Virginia Free White Males Under 10: 1 Free White Males 26 to 44: 1 Free White Females Under 10: 2 Free White Females 26 to 44: 1 Looks like in the 1850 Slave schedules, a Lewis Legg owned 1 7y.o. male Black Thomas, Asbury both owned slaves. Thomas owned 1 23y.o. female black. Asbury owned 4 slaves Numbers of Slaves: 1 Number of Household Members Under 16: 3 Number of Household Members Over 25: 2 Number of Household Members: 5 (1 household over was Jno. Beavers family) Loudoun County and Hampshire Co are 2 different counties. There isn't a Hampshire, Loudoun Co., VA. Found no Legg information in the Estate Records of Hamshire County Courthouse. In the Early Records of Hampshire Co there is only 1 Legg mention and that was in a 1782 census which showed that an Ambrose Leg: 6(people) but was gone in the 1784 census. I did find an old book electronically on the Legg Family. It is historical but traces the Legge family from Italy to England. I am saving a pdf of it so if you want it please send me your email and I will send it to you. I'm not stopping to look for your family but need to check some sources. Will get back to you with more asap. Leslyn Lang Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
