    3. Debbie,   This is a reply from a person on my Franklin Co Illinois LIST when I let them know about your message regarding  AOL Hometown.  Maybe her info will be useful to you. I joined this group a couple years ago and I like them. For a $20 donation a year you have plenty of space and no advertising on your page. But - it must be about genealogy or history. http://www.usgennet.org/ http://www.ahgp.org/ And they have a web masters list mail if you should need help. Thought I should let you all know as many of us use and depend on the free sites for a lot of our information. If you do refer to any Hometown AOL sites now is time to start gathering up all the info you can. I know the owners are scrambling to find other sites to post their work but it will take time. Bob Moyer put up many Ohio River, and Rivers in Ohio <G>maps Eliz ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Bob Moyer <[email protected]> Date: Fri, Oct 3, 2008 at 8:39 PM Subject: [OHATHENS] Upper Ohio River and Town Maps To: [email protected] My great-great grandfather was Martin Heckard (1809-1877), a lawyer in Pomeroy and many of his clients were on both sides of the river from Cincinnati to Wheeling. He also practice law in Athens and other counties inland and was one of the early teachers at Meigs Academy in Chester. He grew up in Columbiana and Jefferson Counties and came down to Meigs County about 1832. A few years ago I compiled some property owner river maps for the year 1877 and thought now might be a good time to make them available for everyone at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~moyer/Ohio-River-Maps/index.htm Please feel free to download them - they are large files - but excellent quality. They are in PDF format so you can print any section or part that you need - just save them to your computer. There's also a link on the page to another source where I found some Revolutionary War Pension Applications (original documents) for SE Ohio and West Virginia and I added an example. I stumbled on these because they were prepared by Mr. Heckard when he was a lawyer. Too bad the applicants were not our family . . . . the last name was Frasher. I hope you find the maps as useful as I have. Please feel free to pass this information along to any other mailing lists or researchers. My plans are to eventually finish the set which runs from Cincinnati to Pittsburgh as time permits. Good luck with your research. I thought I would send this to the List because there is many of you that I correspond with regularly about genealogy are subscribers.... I know a few of you on the list has been asking about the Newsletter and when it will be sent out. I almost have it ready to go, However, it's on hold for right now, until I get back from an urgent trip back to Marietta. Just in case anyone on the List emails me about family research and I don't reply for a few days, don't worry. I'll try to answer all your emails when I return . I have to go back home because we were informed on Friday night that my brother's body was found in Raleigh County, WV. I won't know a thing other than an autopsy will be done. I'll talk to the Dectitive there tomorrow (Monday) AM to find out when they will release his body to the McClure/Shaffer Funeral Home in Marietta. I plan to leave, Monday night or first thing Tuesday morning. Until I leave, I'll reply to as many of emails that I can. But just in case you don't hear from me, i just want you to know that I haven't forgotten you..... just been busy trying to tie up loose ends here before our trip back home. I will have my laptop with me, so I'll will check my email at night.
