==== Latest update on the fate of the Delta Queen Steamboat..... Franz Neumeier, the webmaster the steamboat.org and Save The Delta Queen.org (see links below) wants to me to let you all know that that it's NOT over when the Delta Queen arrives in New Orleans or when we don't get the exemption through Congress in November. Rep. Chabot and Sen. Voinovich by no means will introduce a new exemption bill to the House and Senate if we fail in November. It's really important that people are not giving up and that we keep the momentum until we have the exemption. And for everyone to "again" contact their Representatives and Senators letting them know that the Delta Queen is now making national news on CNN, ABC, and that it might be good for them to actively support the Delta Queen right now. Actually the biggest fear is that we fail because people are giving up too early! Visit these websites for more information: http://www.steamboats.org/ http://www.save-the-delta-queen.org/ http://www.majesticamericaline.com/ Thanks.... Sally, your posting to the Washington County, OH, site caught my eye because I have a "Betty Smith" mentioned in a 1881 Smith family history, which I have never been able to locate. So I checked FamilySearch.org and there is your Martin and Betsy and their 9 children. I checked Rootsweb and found Dan L. Lind's posting; opps, wrong parents for me, same parents for you. (My mystery remains unsolved.) Good luck with your research. (I have given my Ohio Smith's a "rest" for a while :o) MaryLu in Minnesota

Thanks so much for offering. I'm searching for information about the Isaac MILES family who arrived from South Carolina into Washington County, sometime after 1800, they show up in the tax lists in 1808. I think they lived in Lawrence township. His wife was Rosannah and they had at least one son.. Martin, who was born in South Carolina in 1800. Isaac died Nov. 15, 1812 in Lawrence Township. Martin MILES married Betsy SMITH in March of 1822. in Washington County. They had at least one child in Lawrence before they moved to Illinois in 1828. So a short time in Ohio for this family. Unless there were other children of Isaac and Rossannah who stayed in the county. Any help in locating this family appreciated. I would like to know if they owned land and if there were any other children. When and where did Rosannah die?
