    3. Eliz.... If you go to the website of the Upper Ohio River & Town Maps (url below), scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the map for MARIETTA & HARMAR. There you see "your" G. H. Lord. To the left, of his land is a Stone Quarry. Wonder if this is Townsend's Quarry? Makes sense because it is at the "upper" part of Harmar Village. 3. Eliz is working on her Sprague line again.... Oh Boy.... Heads are spinning again. lol Who were the parents of Edward Sprague? Humm..........Townsend's Stone Quarry? The newspaper article states it was ABOVE Harmar. Wonder if it is located around Mile Run, or going the other way toward's Oak Grove? Probably Mile Run. Most of the popular stone quarry's were located between Harmar and Belpre, with several being in Warren & Dunham Township. I need to look on the 1875 Atlas and see if Townsend's Quarry was in existance then. Does anyone know if it was? 1. [OHWashin] Phelps family inquiry
    2. I am researching the John Phelps family of Marietta, Ohio. Here is what I have thus far: John Phelps b ca 1775 d 1812-13 Marietta, Ohio--no grave found m Sarah Sally Blake 23 Aug 1806 in Washington County, OHio Three children: Martha b 1807, Abigail, and Benjamin Blake Phelps b 1811--all born in Marietta I do not know where John was from. Reportedly he was a boat builder and a riverboat captain on the Ohio River. He died sometime in 1812 or 1813 as his widow married Rev. John Strait 26 Dec 1813. Is there a source available that may have information about river boats on the Ohio from Marietta during this time frame ? Is there a directory of businesses for this time frame or licensing in Marietta? Does anyone know of a resource that might help me locate more information on him? ANY information gratefully accepted and appreciated. BRICK WALL for more than 50 years.
