HENRY CEMETERY A neglected cemetery is on David HENRY's old 100 acre far. Lot 09 of Watertown Township. Henry's log cabin still stands there where Township road 170 (Meiser Road) runs into County Road 109. By 1875, John HENRY was living there and in recent years Sarah HENRY owned the place. The Cemetery is 100 yards in back of the log cabin and is presently on Raymond Tornes' farm. There is no longer a fence around the graveyard and cows have been grazing there and have knocked down most of the stones, breaking up sereral of them with their hooves. A few stones were completely covered with sod at the time Dana Snow and I visited the place, Sunday afternoon, 19 March 1972. Following are the tombstone inscriptions we could find including some dug up from the turf. There well could be others buried that we could not find. (Research done by Jerry Barker Devol) 1. Arza S. Hi Ron, There is a cemetery history listed on this page: http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/n/i/t/Debra-Nitsche/FILE/0024text.txt?Welcome=1061002144 Although I don't have it in my records either, Belpre cemetery is mentioned in this text. Hope this helps. Like Kim, this is not my direct line, and my research is not primary. Mine came from: Cottle, Elizabeth S., "Descendants of Dudley Davis" in the "Tallow Light," vol. 19, no. 2, publication of the Washington Co. Genealogical Society. So, you have a place to start, but don't accept our input as fact. You need the primary sources. Regarding the parents of Sarah Chapman who married John Hicks. I have the same information on the family of Nathaniel Chapman as Brenda, with the lone exception for the spouse of Sarah Chapman, dau of Davis Chapman and Sally Davis. I show her married to Seth P Pratt in 1842. There is one applicable entry for Vivian Chapman that I found in a quick check of the ancestry.com family trees. It shows Sarah A. Chapman b. 1837 dau. of William John Chapman and Sarah Jane Rodgers, and that this Sarah also married John HICKS. It also shows her youngest children by Vivian Chapman born in 1877. This seems more consistent for a woman with a birth date of 1837, than a birth date of 1824. This is not my direct line, so I do not have primary research on this, either way. Regards, Kim

Linda; THANKS FOR POSTING THIS!! As you know, alot of the Deming, Humiston, Henry, and Green's that are buried there, tie into yours and mine family history through the PARKE and McNEAL line. Now, I can enter "place of burial" into my data base on these people. I am going to put this on a floppy disc and put it with all my other cemetery resource materials. I am searching for more info on John HICKS and Sarah CHAPMAN Hicks. they married in Independence township Washington Co. Feb.25,1852 Census lists his occupation as an Engineer. He died March 7,1865 possible near a place called Wade. Is that in the same township? They had a son Jeremiah in March 29,1855 and a daughter Susan 1861.
