Debbie, You might want to try http://groups.google.com/groups?group=comp&hl=en and put in "family tree maker" in the search box & then check the search for only comp groups. When I first got a new computer with XP, I was having terrible glitches & a friend, who's a professional programmer, suggested I try the google groups. He said it's where he always looks first when he hits a program glitch. Does anyone use FAMILY TREE MAKER as their genealogy webpage?? I have been having nightmares with mine for the last couple of weeks. Below is the email that I sent them in regards to my problem uploading files and updating my book, with lots of new info that I have entered into my data base. I am posting this to the LIST just in case anyone else has the same problems I am having. This email is in no way complaining about a genealogy online site, but hoping it will help someone understand IF they are having problems with their site or another site they are trying to access, and If anyone gets the error message that the page has been deleted or moved, you might want to try the site again in a day or two. Any way.....here is the email I sent them. Email I sent to GENEALOGY.COM Home Page Troubleshooting: I have tried several (about 5 times)to update my "BOOK" to my home page. The additional info that I have added and saved is not in the book. Also, the same day, when I added a file to my homepage, it is there, but when I link to it,,I get a message saying that it was moved or deleted. I have put the "EXACT" link to get to it. I have checked and rechecked for any typing errors, but there is none. I have only used 14.592 MB out of the 22 MB that the site allows. I had this problem before with genealogy.com, but after about 2 weeks, it finally updated itself. WHAT IS WRONG!!!! I don't think it is anything that I am doing wrong. I think the problem is on your end. I have "ALOT" more data that I just added and I need to get it updated in my book. HELP!!! You might want to try it your self. If you go to my homepage, and click on my latest file titled "The Family of William Bond Mason (Church History), it will take you to the page, BUT........ If you type the address into your brower you get the error message. My homepage address is" http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/n/i/t/Debra-Nitsche// ___________________________________________________________________ Email reply to me from GENEALOGY.COM Home Page Troubleshooting: Response (Lars)09/16/2003 07:49 PM Dear Debra, Thank you for your message. We apologize for the delay in our response. Our user Homepage servers are experiencing problems that are preventing the Family History Section from being updated through Family Tree Maker. Our engineers are aware of the problem and are working to resolve it as quickly as possible. For more information and to receive updates on when this issue gets resolved, please see the article below. http://genealogy.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/genealogy.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php? p_faqid=878 _______________________________________________________ Genealogy.com Troubleshooting Page Answers to questions Why is my homepage not updating? Question I'm trying to update my homepage via the Publishing Center. It says the update will be available within 15 minutes or that the item is currently being formatted, but the homepage never updates. Answer Our server engineers are aware of this problem, and are researching the cause. The issue has turned out to be more complex than originally anticipated, and this has resulted in delays in finding a resolution. The "Update or Edit My Homepage" option in the Publishing Center only updates the "My Family History" section of the homepage. You will note that if you click on the "Edit Your Page" link on your homepage, you will have other upload options such as reports and books. These should give you an alternate method of making your information available on your page. Debbie, I would like to know of any references to the surname Walker, primarily Perley, Albert Jerome, Clifford, Earl and Ira. Thanks for your kind offer. Mary
I just bought (off of Ebay) a "WONDERFUL" book, titled: "THE UNKNOWN SETTLEMENT" A Historical Narrative of Little Hocking Washington County, Ohio 1789-1984 By Herbert L. Roush, Sr. The book is indexed, so if anyone doing research on the Little Hocking area, and need a look-up, give me a holler. I will add it to the "LINKS" site in a few days. If anyone ever comes across the chance to read or buy the book, do so. It has some very good historical and genealogical info in it. It also has the listings for the LITTLE HOCKING CEMETERY and SAINT MARY'S CEMETERY in Little Hocking. GREAT RESOURCE BOOK!!! :o) Debbie Noland Nitsche Diamonddeb@comcast.net FAMILY HISTORY SITE http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/n/i/t/Debra-Nitsche// PHOTO SITE OF "FAMILIES OF WASHINGTON COUNTY, OHIO" http://hometown.aol.com/familiesofwashco/index.html OLD MARIETTA & WASHINGTON COUNTY, OHIO PHOTOS http://hometown.aol.com/washcoohiopics/myhomepage/collection.html WASHINGTON COUNTY, OHIO HISTORICAL & GENEALOGICAL "LINKS" http://hometown.aol.com/washcohistory/index.html
Thank you so much for being so willing to help all of us. I am curious as to whether there is an Alonzo Roach indexed in this book.
