    1. [OHWASH] Strange Email Address
    2. Debbie Noland Nitsche
    3. I just recieved this email from Susie Dent. Susie is one of my genealogy friends. I think that it is VERY IMPORTANT to pass this info onto you, just in case you have had the same thing happen to you. I am waiting on an email from Susie as to the contents of this email: Debbie, I received a really weird email from someone using an email address very similar to yours. I opened the mail thinking it was from you and it was apparent that it was not from you once I read it. I thought you might need to be made aware of this. I have just returned from a 3 week vacation and I'm just reading my email so you may already know about the crank emailer. The address of the emailer is diamondsdebs@i-link-2.net Thanks, Susie Dent, Washington County ancestors THIS IS NOT MY EMAIL ADDRESS!!!!! If you do get any emails from the address above, I suggest that you DO NOT open it. Who knows....it could contain a virus. At first I was thinking....Could one of those Junk Mail Robots of gotten ahold of Susie's email address, by picking it up on my new website, through the Guestbook, or email addresses????? That is NOT possible, because Susie info is NOT on the site yet. There is a possibilty that this has nothing to do with me, but I think it is important enough to make you all aware of this STRANGE email address. After I find out the contents of the email, I and hopefully Susie will report it. 3. Debbie, Did you have time to look up Electra Rathbone and Isaac French? They married in Washington Co ca 1805. I found Isaac and Sarah French buried in Washington Co. I am sure Isaac was brother to my Charles French. I also believe a brother William French married before 1810 in Washington Co Ohio. Also do you know of anyone that has access to either tax or land records for period of time between 1800-1810? Charles married Sarah Robinett in 1804 and have been told she had a sister married there during same time period. Thanks for your time, Donna Hughes

    2. Debbie Noland Nitsche
    3. Millie; Can you believe that I lost your new email address. I have some questions for you that pertain to your SNODGRASS genealogy. Are you of the Snodgrass line from this website?????: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvpleasa/pa.txt The reason why I ask, is because there MIGHT be a connection to a John ROGERS, who is mentioned in this site, and the genealogy of John McNEAL from Washington Co., Ohio. There is information to believe that John ROGERS is the OTHER white boy that was captured by the Indians in PA about the yr. of 1744/45. I am not sure that this is the same ROGERS, but the place of orgin matches up, as documented in the unpublished manuscript written by Franklin MCNEAL, "HISTORY OF THE MCNEAL FAMILY IN AMERICA" probably written between September 1879 and June 1881. Franklin is the grandson of John McNeal. Debbie Noland Nitsche Diamonddeb@comcast.net Washinton Co., Ohio (A History and Genealogy Website) http://home.comcast.net/~diamonddeb/Index.html

    2. Shelby Ruch
    3. Hi, Linda, I haven't been able to learn anything about my Rawsons. I know my great grandmother was Maggie Rawson, probably born in Wood or Wirt County, WVa (Virginia at that time) on Oct. 4, 1851. She married A. Manderville Coe and they lived in Rockland (now part of Belpre), Ohio. She died July 24, 1903. Their daughter, Alice Coe Wilcoxen, was my grandmother. The Coes and related families (Morehead, Jett and Owens) came from the Palestine area of Wirt County. I've found some Rawsons in WVa census records, but haven't been able to connect them with Maggie. Any clues? 3. Debbie, Did you know you can get free software at Ancestry.com? I use both ancestry's and family tree maker but like ancestry's best. I just went on their site to see if they still have it. From their main page, click on 'family trees' at the top. That next page will give you the download link. 3. Debbie, You should try the download: it's free, so you can import your GEDCOM & then try out the different features. It has lots of the features of Master Genealogist, but is abt 100 times easier to use. Just my opinion--- I don't own stock in any of them! Book 12 "Tombstone Inscriptions, Page County Virginia - Volume II", 453 pages, 197 cemeteries, 10,000 names published on 12 Oct 1991 Background reading on families living in Shenandoah Valley. A significant number of US families can trace their early roots back to the Shenandoah Valley area. Population pressures from this area were due primarily to the very large families of that time frame, and to the constant partitioning of previously large landed estates by heirs-at-law of deceased land owners, who petitioned the probate court for partitions of the landed estates to obtain their lawful shares. This partitioning system after two or three generations succeeded in turning the large landed estates into very small lots and tracts which would not sustain a large family. Four hundred (400 ) acre land grants used to be a common quantity in a great many of the early grants. This situation resulted in only a few members of each family remaining behind in the Valley, and this same situation exists today, as the lots and tracts are still very small, and as soon as the youths of the Valley graduate from High school, they leave the Valley to receive higher education, to marry, and to earn a living for themselves and family in areas that have more opportunities for them, and most of them never return, especially to be buried, as they usually purchase burial lots where they raise their family There are no large cities in the lower Valley of Virginia, and very little industry , either light or heavy. Therefore, most of the 184,400 names in this index are the older residents, and the parents of the young people who have left the Valley.
