Hi, Debbie, Here's a correction re Dickinson's list of Civil War veterans: The name of Hayes (first name) Truman (last name) is incorrectly listed as Truman Haze (HAZE, Truman, Volunteer, May 1864, one hundred days, One Hundred and Forty-eighth Regiment, Company H, private, taken sick at City Point and died in hospital at Washington after discharge of Regiment in 1864.) Hayes Truman was the first husband of my great grandmother's sister, Catherine Sanders "Kit" Clark of Belpre Township. Hayes contracted tuberculosis during the war and died in 1864 in Washington D. C. and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. The Trumans' three-year-old son, Frank, also died in 1864 of scarlet fever, and another son, William Austin Truman, died at the age of 24 in 1884. Aunt Kit remarried, moved to Illinois and had a second family. Thanks so much for adding the roster to the Web site. His spouse was Mary Belle Young. Children: Gilbert Haven, Minerva, Iola, Clarence, Earnst, Mary Blanche, Violet, Eugene, Bess Kathleen, Inez, & Ann Margaret. If you are interested in this please let me know & I can send you a copy. I am not researching this family so I don't have any further information. Hello Everyone, I just finished searching through the archives of your mailing list and then just subscribed. I have to say that there are some really wonderful people on this mailing list who have done remarkable transcriptions which have helped me greatly with my family lines. I also am finding the history of Marietta and the Northwest Territory really interesting. I'm descended from Major Thomas Stanley and his wife Mixenda Nott through their son, Francis Rowlandson Stanley through his daughter Lucinda Stanley. The Stanleys and the McKibbens were both in Marietta. Lucinda married a McKibben and so did her sister Mary; I think they did that in Illinois, however. I'm also interested in the McKibbens of course. Would like any gedcoms or help as I've just started researching the Stanley line. The Nott line is something quite new to me so any help will be a big plus. Thanks so much. Pam Vaughan Vallejo, CA

This email was sent to me from Dennis Gannon. I told him that I would pass this along to the LIST. I also sent him the link to the Registry Index for him to contact any WILSON researchers. I have a photocopy of a letter written by Benjamin Wilson, Coal Run, Ohio, to his brother, the Rev. Hiram Wilson, then living in Toronto, Upper Canada, dated November 5, 1837. I am trying to find someone with an interest in the history of Coal Run, Ohio, who might be interested in having either a transcript of this letter or even a photocopy of it. I would also be especially interested in contacting anyone doing research on that Wilson family of Coal Run in the 1830s. Can you help me get in touch with such person(s)? Thanks for any help you can give me with this. I am hoping that someone can help me with my latest BRICK WALL. I have always believed that the Elizabeth Carey that married my William Mankin(s) last name was correct until now. I am wondering if her maiden name was really CASEY or CAZY. The reason why is this: 1. William's history of Wash. Co. Ohio states on page 650 that her name was CAREY. However, we all know that the book, has had it's share of mistakes. 2. In a Bible owned by Betsy Ellenwood Mankins, she wrote that Elizabeth's last name is "CAZY" under BIRTHS and DEATHS. It was written this way, in 2-3 places in the Bible. (Betsy ELLENWOOD was the w/o John and the 1st child born to William and Elizabeth Mankin(s). 3. The Marietta Register; Thursday, February 18, 1875; Page 3; Col. 1 Mrs. Betsy Mankins died February 13th, aged 90 years. She was one of the oldest citizens in Dunham township, and a sister to the widow Calder, who is 77 yrs. old this spring. Col. 3 (Under the DEATHS section): MANKINS in Dunham, Feb. 12th. Mrs. Henry (could be Harvey) Mankins, aged 90 years. (I am wondering if William's middle name could of been Henry or Harvey) (Catherine Sams from the Wash. Co. Genealogy Library helped me find this on microfilm this past summer) Robert Henderson found in the Wash.Co. Probate court death records: Elizabeth Mankins, 12 Feb. 1875, aged 92, Born VA, died in Dunham Twp. (I don't think there was mention of her maiden name) 4. After finding the above death notice on Elizabeth (Betsy) I started doing research on the "Widow CALDER that would of been aged 77 the spring of 1875, and found in Williams History of Wash. Co., on the same page (640), an Alexander CALDER who married a CeCe CASEY, that was born in Fairfax Co., Va in 1800. That would be Elizabeth's younger sister. Elizabeth was also born in Virginia. I think, but I am not 100% sure it was in Fairfax Co. She and William Mankins married about the year of 1810/11 in Richmond Va. 5. In the 1870 Census for Dunham Twp. there is William and Harriet Mankins, with Elizabeth, age 86 living with them. Right next door is Wallace Colder (CALDER), and Cece Colder (CALDER) , age 72. Wallace is the son of Alexander and CeCe Calder. I am wondering HOW in the world, I can find out which was her real maiden name: Carey, Casey, or Cazy........DUH!!! HELP!!!!
