    3. I'm very grateful to the kind soul who has just sent me the marriage date for this couple: C. T. Beach and Addie Anderson were married at Sedalia on 30 May 1881. ----- Original Message ----- From: Anderson To: MOPETTIS-L@rootsweb.com ; OHWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com ; ANDERSON-L@rootsweb.com ; BEACH-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, February 05, 2004 2:41 PM Subject: Cydnor Beach & Ada Anderson. 1. [OHWASH] Cydnor Beach & Ada Anderson. Sedalia MO, Washington Co OH
    2. Anderson
    3. Ada W. Anderson was born around 1858 in Illinois, daughter of Carroll and Julia Ann (Benefiel) Anderson of Union and Jackson Cos IL. In 1880 she was single and in her parents' household at Sedalia, Pettis Co MO. Judging from family records and online information, she married Cydnor Tompkins Beach around 1882 and died by 1898. The census of Barlow Township, Washington Co, Ohio, lists Cydnor Beach, born (24) Sep 1844 in Ohio. In his household are a daughter and son: Della Beach, b Nov 1884 in Missouri, and Rufus Benjamin Beach, b Sep 1888 in Missouri. Their mother was born in Illinois. In 1910 in Barlow Township was listed a Leora E. Beach, age 27 (or born ca 1883), born in MO, father b OH and mother b IL. Presumably at least Della and Rufus were children of Ada. There may have been another child, Emmet, born around 1891. Social Security Death Index shows "R. Beach", born 30 Sep 1888, died Jan 1974, with last payment sent to Fleming, Washington Co OH. This is quite likely Rufus. I have not learned where Ada died. She may be buried near her mother at Mt. Herman Baptist Church Cemetery, north of Sedalia, or possibly she died in Ohio. Would like marriage and death dates for Ada, and wish to make contact with any living descendants. See some of Cydnor Beach's ancestry at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Garden/9603/page4.html . 3. Would someone be kind enough do do a Marriage look-up for me on a Lawrence MUELLER who married a Blanche ???? in Washington Co., Ohio I don't know the year, but I am thinking it could be in the late 1890's and before 1909. I am also looking for a burial record or some kind of documation on where Blanche Mueller could be buried. She died sometime after 1910. Maybe 1911 or 12. Possibly died in Washington Co. I am helping a person get info on his grandmother. All he knows is her name was Blanche, and that his father was born in 1908. I did some research and found Lawrence and Blanche in the 1910 census, but Lawrence was widowed in 1920. Their son, Herbert was only 3 yrs. old when his mother died. If he was born in 1908, then she died in 1911. This person would like to know more about Blanche, what her maiden name was, and where she is buried. All he has is a picture of her. I checked all my resources and can only come up with census data. Thanks; Debbie (Noland) Nitsche Diamonddeb@comcast.net

    1. [OHWASH] Death Records
    2. Pat Pulasky
    3. Debbie: As our Washington County expert, perhaps you could help me with a death records question. My grandfather's brother, John Henry Chapman, died the 3rd of January, 1870, per his obituary (which was just a line or two and only gave his name, date of death and cause of death ....typhoid). However, when I contacted the county probate/death records office, I was told that there is no record of his death, although death records in this county go from 1867 to 1908. Are the death records for that period usually so sketchy? It's not as though he died and was buried in an unmarked grave in his backyard ....there's a fairly elaborate monument for him in Mound Cemetery. Thanks much, for any insight you might have on this. Jesse Hildebrand Deb, One of my ancesters, Lt. Col. Isaac B, Kinkead served under him at Shiloh and was his adjutant at Alton Prison. There were some very 'strange goings on at Alton that I have never gotten to the bottom of. I'd love to have whatever you have. Here is what I have: Col. Jesse Hildebrand, who, as commander the 77th Ohio Volunteer Infantry at the Battle of Shiloh and later Commanding Officer at Alton Military Prison, played an important role in the lives of the Kinkeads. His influence was the strongest with Isaac B. Kinkead. He was born 2 May 1800 on the Cornplanter Indian Reservation where his father, George, was the saw mill operator for Chief Cornplanter.[1] He was the 13th child of George and Mary Elizabeth (Kneisley) Hildebrand. After a brief sojourn in the Pittsburgh area the family moved to Fearing Township in Washington County about 1820. Jesse Hildebrand operated Stage Coaches from 1835 to 1860. One of the routes was between Marietta and Zanesville. He kept a journal of his employees, family, friends, etc., during that time. A Xerox copy of the journal is on file at the Washington County Historical Society.[2] Col. Jesse Hildebrand died while in command of the Federal Prison at Alton, Illinois, 18 April 1863. His body was brought back to Marietta for a hero's burial in Mound Cemetery. A monument was erected there. This was a tall monument with the insignia, a broken sword, left in full relief. The inscription is upon its spiral shaft reads: : "In honor of Col. Jesse Hildebrand, of the 77th Rgt. O. V. I. Born at Cold Springs, Indian Reservation, on the Allegheny river, May 29, 1800. Died in the service at Alton, Ill., April 18, 1863. A kind Husband and father, a patriot and soldier. His life was given that our nation might live. 'Lord thy will be done', his dying words." [1] CORNPLANTER (c.1736-1836) was a great war captain of the Seneca nation, a member of the Iroquois Confederacy. The American Revolution split this Confederacy, destroying its New York bulwark against the whites. Most of the Iroquois, including Cornplanter's tribe, sided with the British against the Americans. To eliminate any threat from the Senecas, the most powerful member of the Iroquois Confederacy, in 1779 General George Washington dispatched General John Sullivan, along with four thousand men, to lay waste and devastate the Iroquois homeland. During this invasion of Seneca territory, the only full-scale military engagement between the Senecas and U S. soldiers to take place in Yates County occurred at Kashong Creek. The devastation inflicted upon the Senecas, in terms of lives and property lost, was immense. Over forty villages were wiped out, and more than one-hundred and fifty thousand bushels of corn were destroyed, resulting in starvation for the survivors. Defeated, Cornplanter signed a treaty with the government ceding land to the United States. This disgraced him in the eyes of his people, but made him a favorite of whites, including Thomas Jefferson, with whom Cornplanter became friendly. Cornplanter was reputed to be about a hundred years old at the time of his death. - http://www.campcornplanter<http://www.campcornplanter/<http://www.campcornplanter<http://www.campcornplanter/>> com/chief.html [2] http://www.scioto.org/Washington/catalogs/catalog.html<http://www.scioto.org/Washington/catalogs/catalog.html<http://www.scioto.org/Washington/catalogs/catalog.html<http://www.scioto.org/Washington/catalogs/catalog.html>> -------Original Message------- From: OHWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:OHWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:OHWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:OHWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com>> Date: 01/25/04 13:46:38 To: OHWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:OHWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:OHWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:OHWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com>> Subject: Re: [OHWASH] Col. - http://www.campcornplanter<http://www.campcornplanter/> com/chief.html [2] http://www.scioto.org/Washington/catalogs/catalog.html<http://www.scioto.org/Washington/catalogs/catalog.html> -------Original Message------- From: OHWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:OHWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com> Date: 01/25/04 13:46:38 To: OHWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:OHWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [OHWASH] Col.
