Author: clod85 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.washington/45.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I believe James and Alice from Watertown/Beverly had a son John and John had a son-Perley and daughter- Bertha others. I am a descendant of Perley. Our family gossip of John is that he killed his wife in England and then was a stole away on a ship to America. I know this to not be true since his family was here already. My elderly uncle said that John used to hang out with an Indian woman named Bebe and that John repaired boats on the Ohio river. He remembers meeting Bebe as a kid. He thinks that maybe John just did not want to pay taxes so he did not have an address-living on a houseboat. I do find John in several censuses with his wife Isabell Angle. My grandmother wrote a poem about her father Perley learning how to play the fiddle and his "farmer Father" catching him learning how to play it when he wasn't even suppose to touch it. My grandmother was one of the most positive influential persons in my life. She had a rough beginning but led a good life and raised 2 boys. ! I think that by looking at pictures of my gt grandfather and his father John, there was a lot of alcholism. I would like to at least get some of the story straight on John. Everybody has skeletons in their closets even if they seem a little "Fishy" Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. They aren't listed in the cemetery listing as well. I checked under her maiden name and then both married names. She remarried in June of 1869. Her first husband was alive in the 1860 census then in 1870 she's with her second husband. I wonder if at 52 he might have died in the Civil War. It's around the same time period but you'd think there would be some kind of record. His sons are listed. Leslyn Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I can't seem to find the cemetery she was laid to rest in. Nancy Tidd died on May 10, 1906 in Marietta. I find no listing for her under Nancy Tidd, Nancy Roush, or Nancy Donohue. Nancy Tidd is the widow of Absalom Roush. She remarried to John Tidd. He was quite a bit older than her and I'm sure he probably died before she did. I have no death information on John Tidd nor the place where he is buried either. John Tidd was born approx. 1792. He was alive in 1880. I believe he was 88 years old then. Any assistance anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated. Leslyn Lang Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
