Yes, I do know about the articles in the Adams County Free Press. A truly great resource. That's where I was able to conclude that she had an address at Barlow, Ohio, and that there were legals published looking for heirs in 1919. The Iowa Graves survey showing Amanda Graham doesn't fit ours as she died much later in time after the legals were published, i.e. 1927. It seems to me that the Free Press should have had an obituary as there were family in the area but can't pull one up. Perhaps someone out there might run across this name, perhaps there are step-siblings descendants who might know something. Thanks again. The WPA graves project in Iowa has an Amanda Surname Given Name Born Died Cemetery Location County Comments GRAHAM Amanda M. 1853 1927 Rose Hill Mo. Valley Harrison I suggest you write to the Washington Co., RAOGK member who is very good and see if an obituary showed up. At Ancestry the Athens paper which had a lot of Marietta area obits isn't hitting. I did find a notice in Adams County Free Press (Corning, Iowa) Record for Adams County Free Press (Corning, Iowa) 1919 > August > 27 > 4 Which starts the "She died before" and there are a number of others of the notices. There was a "visiting" article 1904 > May > 25 > 8 but so far as I can see no obit, odd. I keep finding her (or another Amanda Graham) as a county taxpayer. Elizabeth, I have found Amy Woods death record only her first name was spelled Aimee. The info was given for the record by her son Thomas Jourdan Woods, my Uncle. Also found her husband's death record and he William & Amy died two months apart in 1941. I think I will check with the RAOK rep for Washington county to see if I can get an obit for Amy. It's my last hope for getting the info I'm looking for. My Uncle Thomas Woods' wife Eileen told me after Thomas died that Thomas' mother had been an art teacher but I can find no proof of that. Her death certificate just said she was retired. Thanks a bunch for your help, Ken

Parents Thomas and Sybil are buried at Fairview Church Cemetery in Palmer Twp, Washington Co, Ohio. Last known address for their unmarried daughter Amanda Graham was Barlow, Ohio. It is believed that she died possibly in 1918-1919 as legals were published searching for heirs in the fall of 1919. Amanda traveled extensively between Ohio and Iowa to visit family. She had step-siblings Robert, Maria and Susan Graham from Thomas' first marriage to Gilchrist. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
