MaryLou..... I just read your Hall/Scoville post with interest. For 20 years I've been trying to determine the parents of my orphaned great grandmother Bell Hall. She was born around 1865-1867 which would have made her 13-15 yrs old --fitting the ages of your Jane's children. Bell was placed in the Warren County Orphan's Home when she was a young child and after a few years, a family named Mardis took her from the orphanage to raise her in exchange for help on their farm. She lived with them until she married my great grandfather, Charles Hizar, in 1883. Could Jane Hall have put her children into the Orphanage as a result of not being able to care for them after she was widowed? Hall is such a common name and difficult to research so I may be stretching things here, but I would surely appreciate hearing back from you....maybe we could make some progress.
