The Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society in conjunction with the Dayton & Montgomery County Public Library is sponsoring a free Genealogy Workshop on Saturday, October 21, 2000 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Dayton & Montgomery County Public Library, Main Auditorium, 215 E. 3rd Street in Dayton. Sessions will include: Dayton Collection: Manuscripts, Maps, and Photographs: Learn what unique information manuscript collections hold. Learn how to use local maps and the Lutzenberger and Montgomery County Photograph Collections. Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps: Learn to use Sanborn Fire Insurance maps to shed light on your ancestor's neighborhood and workplace. Genealogy and Photography: Learn to use your camera to copy old photographs and documents, to photograph tombstones and places of family interest. Learn how to crop, caption and display genealogical pictures. In addition, there is a wonderful German History display in the auditorium and there will be a presentation on how and where the information was obtained. No reservations are required.
