My great grandfather was Hiram Nelson Scoville born out of wedlock 26 Sep 1850 in Dayton, OH. His mother was Mary Simpson b abt 1830 in Warren County, probably Union Township. She was possibly put out of her parent's house because of her condition. I do not know why she went to Dayton for the birth, but she stayed with a family named Kneisley. Mary's parents were Jesse Simpson and Charlotte Wager. Hiram was mentioned in his grandfather's will as was his mother, so fences were mended and she was forgiven. Jesse Simpson died in 1862 and at that time his mother's name was Mary Harper. I have been unable to locate a marriage for Mary Simpson to a man named Harper. Nor can I find the biological father for Hiram. Any help would be so very much appreciated. I have been looking for a solution to this problem for a very long time. Marylou Denyer in California
