My dead end is with Daniel McCann who is in the 1820 and 1830 census. A number of people on this list have tried to find a recorded marriage for him but to no avail. Daniel was a shoemaker and probably had a shop in Mason; however it must have been rented since the LDS land deeds do not show him as owning land. Someone suggested I write the Mason Historical Society. I can find no address. Is there such an organization? Thank you. Dorothy
Hi Ethel My Clear Creek families included James Johnson Sr. and William Crain who are both apparently buried in Springboro. Other relatives that were either in Clear Creek Twp or at least the county included Sawyer and McCord families. Any info or leads would be verrrry much appreciated. I'm currently at the Allen Co. Libray in Ft. Wayne doing research and will likely head to Warren Co. later this week. So much to do . . . so little time to do it! Dear Warren County Listers, Does Warren County keeps records or did they require the executor of an estate to show proof of the distribution of assets when a will was probated? For example, I have a copy of a will which calls for the real estate to be sold, debts paid, gravestones errected for earlier deceased family members and then the remainder of the estate (cash?) to be sent to the heirs. Some of the heirs were minor grandchildren of the deceased. Would there be papers/records somewhere in the court house which would show how much each heir got (adults and children) and where/when the money was sent? If so, where do I write for the info? Is this a chancery type of transaction/record? Will timeframe is 1867. Sale of the real estate was to occur after the Spring of 1868 as requested in the will.. I'm hoping to find the residences of several of the heirs listed in the will. They don't seem to be living in Warren County at the time. Thanks for your advice, Mary Louise Townsend Sterling, VA
The Golden Lamb is a lovely hotel. We didn't stay there when visiting a couple of summers ago, but had lunch there. Lots of history in that building & one should definitely take a look at the place while visiting the area. Yes, Morrow Ohio is also called Morrow Town. This is probably because of trying to say you are going to Morrow being heard as going to tomorrow. The Kingston Trio even had a song in the late 50's early 60's that played on that theme. I can remember my dad always saying Morrow Town. ----- Original Message ----- From: Brian Thacker <bthacker@your-net.com> To: <OHWARREN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, October 17, 1999 12:19 PM Subject: Re: Cemeteries - - early 1800 Marriages --- also - Is there a Morrow Town in Warren County > Rita, There is a Morrow, Ohio in Warren County. My sincere apologies!! I stated that William Lee (AKA William Fairfax Lee) was married to Nancy Taylor. It should say William HAYS Lee was married to Nancy Taylor. My information is not confirmed, only hearsay, so please don't put it in your GEDCOM as fact. I understand William Hays Lee later married a Mary Halliday or Holliday. If anyone has any info - whether it agrees with mine or not, I would love to hear from you. Thanks. And, once again, I apologize. Anyone know anything about Barzilla 1750-1840? His daughter(I think) Elizabeth was m. 1803 Warren Co,OH to David Kennedy. Barzilla fought in the Revolution in PA, then died in Sangamon Co,IL. He was married to Nancy Wells. He had seven children; Elizabeth is the only one I know of. Barzilla also went by Bazel; he had brothers(I think) John and Elisha. Can anyone add to this info? Rich, I live in Lebanon, not far from the Shaker Inn. It is still there and looks okay. It is family owned so it is not as fancy as some of the chains. There is a Holiday Inn at the Kings Island exit off I-71. That's maybe 10 minutes from Lebanon. There is a Kings Island Inn at the same exit. My JOHNSON and CRANE / CRAIN families were in Warren Co. from around 1800 to 1820. Said to have lived close to Franklin, Ohio. Also reference made to their homestead being at Springboro. One of the children was said to have been born on Clear Creek. This likely rings a bell with some of you more familiar with the area than I. What clues does it offer? This coming week I will be leaving Iowa for Ft. Wayne, IN where I will be spending several days at the Allen Co. Library. If time allows, I also want to get over to Miami Co. OH and then down to Warren Co. on Friday and possibly Saturday. If I should get to Warren Co., where might my limited time best be spent? The following url tells what little I have to go on. http://www.netins.net/showcase/vbciowa/genie/Johnson/d108.htm I assume I should plan to stay in or near Lebanon. Any suggestions on a motel? Thanks! Rich ___________________________________________________________ «¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»¥«¤»§«¤» Rich Lowe richlowe@netins.net Van Buren Co.
