    1. College in Lebanon for teachers in 1890s?
    2. Richard Bloss
    3. There was a school or "college" in Springboro, just a few miles away. It would have been in operation about that time May have had Quaker roots. I had a relative or two who are thought to have attended this school. I have some brief info given me by the Springboro Historical Society Dick Bloss --- MAPPAUSTEN@aol.com wrote: > Does anyone on this forum know the name of a college > for teachers in the > 1890s? 2. Does anyone on this forum know the name of a college for teachers in the 1890s? My grandfather graduated from there ca. 1896 and I would like to know more about the college he attended. I never met him as he died prior to my birth. However, he was the only other teacher in the family until I came along. I have a picture of him standing on steps in front of the school I presume but someone has cut off almost everyone else in the class photo. There are no marks of identification on the picture no is anyone else in front of or behind him labeled. He was Jacob Coleman PETTY. Thank you. Marjory A. Austen

    2. I am at a dead end with my Daniel McCann who is in the 1820 and 1830 census from Mason, Warren,OH. He was a shoemaker and his wife went by both Rebecca and Sarah and her maiden name may have been Sills. I believe she died in that area and Daniel moved his family to Clermont in the mid 1830's I begged a cousin of mine to read some Lebanon Western Star papers (a long story why I can't get to the microfilm myself) in search of Daniel but no luck. However, she enjoyed the articles so much, she sent me some to submit to the list. I will do that in bits an pieces over the next week. Also, it is possible for the Ohio His. Soc. to put all of the Ohio papers on CD's and it might be a viable idea. I, for one, would be willing to shell out a lot for the opportunity to have them at my desk to read. Anyone else interested might send them a note. Dorothy

    3. Thanks, Bobbi and Dave, for your help. I'm gonna grab my atlas and see if I can pinpoint Bethany. Figures there'd be nothing there now :) My kind of luck. Sounds like I better search in both Warren and Butler County for my Enyart family. Thanks again. If you need any help from 'up north' here let me know. Lynne K. 3. Lynne, Bethany is in Butler County, west of Mason, OH, which is in Warren, Co. There is a Bethany Rd. which runs East and West at the North side of Mason. If you go West on Bethany Rd. into Butler County it will intersect with Cincinnati-Dayton Rd. Bethany is located right at that intersection. Dave

    3. My gg-grandfather, JOHN BENTON WILLOW ENYART, died in Shelby County, Ohio in 1919. His death certificate makes reference to his birth in "Bethany", Warren County, Ohio. I'm unable to locate this on a recent map. Is Bethany the name of a township in Warren County? Or is it a town/village/city that is no longer in existence? Any hints steering me in the right direction would be very much appreciated. Thanks for your time. 2. To: Jacqueline From: John L. Cowan in Baltimore Thank you so much for the lookup. It provides the sources: Original>> Shilt Abstracts>>FTM CD 175. I have photocopies of every fragment of paper from Warren County Bx #1, and am very much aware of the lineage of these Cowans. I was hoping for ages of the two children who went into guardianship, but no such luck. It does pretty well confirm, however, that others didn't glean any information from those papers that I might have overlooked, or information that might have been there at some earlier date, but not when I had copies made. 1. SIMPSON/SCOVILLE/HARPER
    2. My great grandfather was Hiram Nelson Scoville born out of wedlock 26 Sep 1850 in Dayton, OH. His mother was Mary Simpson b abt 1830 in Warren County, probably Union Township. She was possibly put out of her parent's house because of her condition. I do not know why she went to Dayton for the birth, but she stayed with a family named Kneisley. Mary's parents were Jesse Simpson and Charlotte Wager. Hiram was mentioned in his grandfather's will as was his mother, so fences were mended and she was forgiven. Jesse Simpson died in 1862 and at that time his mother's name was Mary Harper. I have been unable to locate a marriage for Mary Simpson to a man named Harper. Nor can I find the biological father for Hiram. Any help would be so very much appreciated. I have been looking for a solution to this problem for a very long time. Marylou Denyer in California
