    1. Creager research
    2. Thomas Anderson
    3. I have just joined both Darke and Warren Co. lists, and hope to contact someone doing research on this family: David CREAGER was born in Warren Co. OH 2/12/1816 (parents???) married Catharine WAGGONER 2-3-1848 in Warren Co. He died Oct. 20, 1868 according to Darke Co. records. The records show a marriage of Solomon CREAGER to Eliza Ann Austin in 2-6-1845. Perhaps a brother of David? Children of David and Catharine are: 1. James Monroe b. 1848, Middletown, Warren Co. marr. Elizabeth RAPP Feb. 7, 1878 in Kosciusko. Co. IN d. Sept. 3, 1926 in Constantine MI Children Mattie and Perry Edward 2. Mary Magdalene b. 1850 in Franklin Twp., Warren Co. marr. 1868 in Darke Co. to John L. GREGG Settled in Milford, Kosciusko Co. IN d. 1906 Children: William, Martha, Emma, Edward 3. Martha Ann b. 1852 in Franklin Twp.,Warren Co. 4. George W. b. 1855 in Franklin Twp., Warren Co. Marr. Matilda Jennie DETAMORE Oct. 18, 1877 Moved to Union City Darke Co. in 1896 d. Nov. 26, 1909 Child: Myrtle 5. John H. b. 1858 Franklin Twp., Warren Co. 6. Lewis or Louis b. 1862 Darke Co. ? The 1850 OH census listed the name as CRIGER in Warren Co. 1860 shows them as CREAGOR in Warren Co. 1870 listed under Katherine CRAIGER, Union City, Darke Co. 1880 Catherine CREIGER, Jackson Twp. Darke Co. Nearby were George and wife Jennie M. with another Detamore next door--probably her brother. Does anyone have access to cemetery records in the vicinity of Union City, Darke Co.? I would like to find burial place for David Creager which may lead to death date for Catharine. Thanks for any help! Happy to share what I have. John Gregg and Mary Creager were my great grandparents. Karen

    3. I doubt if the Public Library has an internet page. The snail address is Lebanon Public Library 101 S, Broadway, Lebanon, OH phone 513-932-2665. However, I find the Warren County Historical Society on S. Broadway has the old copies of the Western Star. You would be most likely to find an obituary copy there. You asked for the address of The Western Star- 200 Harmon Ave. Lebanon (but don't count on them for much help with obits) Some obit copies are also at the Warren County Genealogical Society Library in Lebanon. No reply necessary. 3. I have just heard from a friend of mine that there has been copies made of an unpublished manuscript (Not in it's entirety) and given to the Historical Society there in Lebanon, Ohio. The name of the manuscript is "Dearth Genealogy". I have been told that the Historical Society there in Lebanon has these copied pages on Micro-Fiche. Now, I don't know how true any of this is; I'm just going by what someone has told me. But I would like to ask the list here if anyone on this list is a member of the Lebanon Historical Society. Or if they might know who I can contact to find out the validity of this information. If it's true, I would like to see about possibly getting copies of the manuscript. I'm told the original manuscript which was written by William Dearth back in the 1940's is kept at the Carnegie Library in Pittsburgh, Pa. In this manuscript, it gives reference to the line of Dearth's that my cousin's and I have been searching for, for quite some time. Now that we have the information, we would like to have something on paper confirming/proving the information to be true. That is why I am asking about possibly getting copies. A trip to Lebanon is a little shorter than driving to Pittsburgh. And I don't know if those folks there in Pittsburgh would let me, or even if they themselves would allow copies to be made. (I have not followed that route yet) Thought that checking with the closest possible source would be the best thing to try first. Would/could anyone on the list here answer my questions, point me in the right direction, or somehow offer me some assistance in this matter ??? Thanks !!!! Doug

    3. I work at Otterbein and we take pride in our Shaker Heritage. There is a small cemetery on Otterbein property. I know some people buried there were once residents at Otterbein, but it is possible that some of the Shakers were also buried there. Also I believe there is a plague located on 741 across from Otterbein that marks Union Village. I think the Warren County Historical Society has a lot of info on the Shakers of Waren Coutny.

    3. I have observed that here of late, some of the lists I subscribe to have had folks asking about info on Dayton's "Old Soldier's Home" and The Nation Cemetery there. Well, I just thought I'd pass on a web address that might help some folks out that are looking for such information here on these lists. The "Old Soldier's Home" is no longer there. It has been replaced by the Dayton VA Medical Center. The National Cemetery is still there on the grounds. Go to: http://www.daytonvamc.com Here you can get addresses and phone numbers for what ever info you are looking for. If you want info on the history of the "Old Soldiers Home" or the VA Medical Center history, call (937) 268-6511 this is customer service. Ask for extension 2115 this will get you the VA Historian, Karen Duhart. She will help you out with your questions on the Old Soldier's Home/Dayton VAMC history. All of you folks are close enough to drive/call if you have ancestors buried there, interested in it's history, or just to find out general info on the place. Just thought I'd pass this on for future reference. Doug
